Poor little Adagio is not doing so well right now. Over the past couple weeks he has had issues with runny poo, and over the past few days I have seen little worms squirming around in it. Thursday morning started out as yet another awesome day of skiing, with "balmy" temperatures in the 20s, freshly groomed trails, and nobody but me and my ski instructor friends out on the ski hill. On Fridays I teach skiing lessons in a program for grade school children. This program is a Monday-Friday program, and schools go on field trips and bring their students out for us to teach. My tortoises have been living separately for now, but I have decided to get them used to the idea of living together by putting Adagio in Andante's home for visits. I was initially worried that he would become aggressive toward her because male tortoises get aggressive toward females when they want to mate. Females generally are not aggressive. ( Read more... )

Adagio has been feeling the stress of adapting to a new home this week, and he has been behaving the way any tortoise under stress would. He has been refusing to eat and spending as much of his time as possible hiding. He only moves when my husband or I disturb him from his hiding place.
