UHURA AND SCOTTY NEED NOT DEFINE THEIR RELATIONSHIP nyota_uhura24 June 27 2011, 23:33:53 UTC
"You can't go in there."

There was no way in hell Nyota was going to listen to the security officer blocking her path, not when Scotty was in there alone. "Get the hell out of my way. That's an order," she replied, voice and stance booking no room for argument.

The man appeared on the verge of argument, but then thought better of it and stood aside. She wasted no more time worrying about him and rushed inside to find Scotty lying on the floor, covered in blood and burns and shrapnel. The sight of him almost made her heart stop, and she dropoed to the ground beside him, ignoring the screaming sirens and smoke surrounding them. "Scotty! Oh my God. I need to get you to sickbay."

THEY TRANSCEND DEFINITION transwarp_beam June 27 2011, 23:43:00 UTC
He could barely hear a thing over the ringing the explosion had left in his ears but the note of panic in her voice managed to penetrate; he blinked at her a few times, aware that words were being spoken but unable to summon the necessary mental faculties to interpret them. He tried to speak, to reassure her, but all that came out was a strangled gasp and a ragged whimper of pain, blood flecking his lips and trickling down his chin.

The world was going grey around the edges, everything a tinny a distant background to the all-encompassing pain. He reached out blindly and found her arm, gripping with all the strength left to his numb and weakened hands as he struggled to find something, anything, to hang onto as consciousness tried to slip away.

His inability to speak and the weak grasp on her arm made her stomach clench with worry. "It's going to be okay. I'm going to get you out of here," she said, trying to fill her voice with the confidence she didn't feel. He was in horrible shape, but she knew a medic wouldn't risk coming in here. She had to get him out. "I'm going to lift you up. Just lean on me," she said, shifting to get an arm around him and trying to lift him, being as careful as she could not to aggravate his already severe injuries. "Just stay with me, Scotty. We're going to get out of here." Seeing him like this terrified her, but she had to be strong and support him until he could get medical attention. He had to be all right. He had to be.

The attempt at movement didn't really have any discernible positive effects; all it really achieved was a strangled howl of pain, his fingers tightening convulsively on her arm as the other hand flew to the spar that had skewered him. Teeth gritted, vision swimming, he managed to grate out faintly; "..think...m'pinned..." The effort of speaking had clearly cost him, breath coming in shallow, wheezing gasps.

"Okay... I - I think I need to get this out," she said, trying not to let her terror show. She had only basic medical training and had no idea what was best for Scotty in the situation. They should send in a doctor but the area had been deemed too dangerous to enter. "Just keep breathing, Scotty. Stay with me, okay? You don't have to talk, just stay with me." Her hands moved to the spar as she tried to discern how difficult it would be to remove and if it was possible to move him without it.
