She was going to... d-die? No... no! It wasn't fair! She couldn't die, not yet! She was too young, only a little over twelve years old, and a princess for goodness sake; now she was given a few days left to live, and found herself unable to be moved away from her bed. Why did this have to happen to her? Her family, her friends... they'd be devastated, though not as much as she was now.
Tears fell down her eyes as Melody sat weakly up in her bed, trying her hardest to deny it all while struggling with a terrible cough. Afterwards, it grew harder for her to breathe and it just hurt to catch her breath. Maybe if she told someone, she'd be able to find a way back to the sea for just one last time... Melody could only hope.]

...C-co...come i-in...
[A cough laced her words, as simple as they were. Darn this illness, darn this cough, darn the hurt in her throat because of it.]

Hello. [She smiles gently.] I apologize if I'm bothering you, but I'm wondering if you're all right.
[Despite what sadly lies ahead, she won't be alone.]

True, Pokemon battles always left a victim, a Pokemon who didn't survive. The losers always died. Always always always, and Cecil never understood why. But they were only supposed to attack other Pokemon. But one trainer apparently enjoyed the thrill a bit too much.
Cecil watched his team get slaughtered before his opponent turned to him. He remembers them giving a single command - and then pain. He'd been attacked. Why?]

But this result... she never foresaw. Mesprit couldn't remain on the sidelines anymore. Revealing her true form in the open, she rushed to the trainer's side, forming a Protect barrier around them in case his opponent wished to do more damage, though that had already been done, and time was painfully short.
If only... if only she'd broken that one rule...! Her feelings showed through the saddened tone resounding softly in his head.]
I... I'm so sorry...

D.... D-Don't be... I... Nnnn... I might have d-deserved this...

She shook her head, tempted to touch him in comfort as her small body approached. It probably would be alright though, as it takes three days for the curse to take effect and it didn't seem like he'd last that long.]
No... No one deserves this to happen to them... I should have done something to stop this...

Locked in a cell-like box, vents present like air holes for captured bugs. But no food.
No water.
It was a miracle he could survive this long... Rather, it was due to his status as Ultimate Life form that had kept him alive this long... Being genetically created to survive... And every second he wished he could just die.
He couldn't feel anything anymore, curled up on the floor of the box. If anyone noticed he was gone, he was certain they'd have found him by now. But...
That's the way things were. ]

Shadow could probably hear the rush toward the cell-like box as the blue hedgehog had sped toward, winds behind him picking up and also pushing him forward, making him that much faster.
But it may have already been too late.]
Shadow!

When he heard the voice call his name, he was certain he was just imagining things.
After all, it had been months. An impossibly long time. He stared at the floor, eyes blank, waiting. ]

He didn't want to think about it.]
Shadow, I know you're in there! Say something!

It was worse than the accident. She could already tell as much, even if she's not had any medical background. She knew the feeling of almost dying and this? This was far worse.
But even the about-to-die part wasn't the worst bit. The worst bit was that Rumplestiltskin had left her alone, in some alleyway she doubted people would go down and see her broken form. The about-to-die bit was hard, but facing it alone was harder.
There was nothing to do but wait, really. Nothing to do but curl in on herself when the pain got to be too much. Nothing to do but lie there, wishing someone would come, even though she knew it was in vain.
She always knew she'd die alone.]

Of course, it was One who found her. Exhausted, shaking a hair from the strain of keeping so many eyes open so long, nerves half-shot to begin with from the worry of having once again let her slip under the radar and out of the Project survivors' protective circle.
Needless to say, this was not what he'd hoped to find.]
--MD! [It's useless, but he scrambles to the ground beside her, hands flying to her wrists to check her pulse.]

They're going to lose her. Years of promises, and she's going to die here in an alleyway.
He's absolutely damned if he's going to leave her to that alone.] Don't be stupid. [He's strong to begin with, but brushing her hand away now is like a giant brushing off a gnat. His hands smooth her palms, cheeks, hair, just trying to keep her present with him a few moments longer.] You can't get rid of me. Never.

So she lay there in the middle of the street, a piano slowly crushing her chest as a crowd started surrounding her. She hurt everywhere and couldn't breathe and, as much as she hated to admit it to herself, just wanted it to be over.
And if it didn't hurt to laugh, she would be doing so at the idea that it took her being crushed by a piano to finally get some attention.]

He steps around a few gawkers (Christ did anyone even call an ambulance? Not that it really matters) and leans over to take the girl's hand, pulling her soul free.]
There you go. All ready now.
