Melody // The Little Mermaid II // 4 & 3 mel_mel_mermaid June 24 2011, 05:48:38 UTC
[The young princess had been sick in bed for a while, but now the doctor had confirmed the worst - there wasn't any cure to be found and the disease was fatal.

She was going to... d-die? No... no! It wasn't fair! She couldn't die, not yet! She was too young, only a little over twelve years old, and a princess for goodness sake; now she was given a few days left to live, and found herself unable to be moved away from her bed. Why did this have to happen to her? Her family, her friends... they'd be devastated, though not as much as she was now.

Tears fell down her eyes as Melody sat weakly up in her bed, trying her hardest to deny it all while struggling with a terrible cough. Afterwards, it grew harder for her to breathe and it just hurt to catch her breath. Maybe if she told someone, she'd be able to find a way back to the sea for just one last time... Melody could only hope.]

Feel free to ignore if it's kinda random. clergymaid_kin June 25 2011, 16:18:11 UTC
[There is a polite knock at the door. Josephine hopes that the girl is all right.]

Oh, it's not random at all! mel_mel_mermaid June 25 2011, 18:05:19 UTC
[That knock... was it her mother? Whoever it was, Melody could use the company. She might as well be with someone then spend what days were left without any contact at all.]

...C-co...come i-in...

[A cough laced her words, as simple as they were. Darn this illness, darn this cough, darn the hurt in her throat because of it.]

[She opens the door, thus revealing a girl no older than thirteen.]

Hello. [She smiles gently.] I apologize if I'm bothering you, but I'm wondering if you're all right.

[Despite what sadly lies ahead, she won't be alone.]

[It wasn't supposed to be this way. It wasn't supposed to it wasn't supposed to it wasn't supposed to--

True, Pokemon battles always left a victim, a Pokemon who didn't survive. The losers always died. Always always always, and Cecil never understood why. But they were only supposed to attack other Pokemon. But one trainer apparently enjoyed the thrill a bit too much.

Cecil watched his team get slaughtered before his opponent turned to him. He remembers them giving a single command - and then pain. He'd been attacked. Why?]

[And somehow, the Lake Guardian had been watching the whole battle, wishing she could do something... but it was not her place to interfere. The battle arena was a sacred place for trainers, so even when a life was lost, she always had to painfully be the observer until it was over.

But this result... she never foresaw. Mesprit couldn't remain on the sidelines anymore. Revealing her true form in the open, she rushed to the trainer's side, forming a Protect barrier around them in case his opponent wished to do more damage, though that had already been done, and time was painfully short.

If only... if only she'd broken that one rule...! Her feelings showed through the saddened tone resounding softly in his head.]

I... I'm so sorry...

[What...? Cecil blinks at the voice in his head, trying to clear his vision. Something pink... A Pokemon? Not a Pokemon he's ever seen or heard of before...]

D.... D-Don't be... I... Nnnn... I might have d-deserved this...

[Perhaps he was too far weakened to clearly see her, but at least he could hear her voice.

She shook her head, tempted to touch him in comfort as her small body approached. It probably would be alright though, as it takes three days for the curse to take effect and it didn't seem like he'd last that long.]

No... No one deserves this to happen to them... I should have done something to stop this...

Shadow the Hedgehog | Sonic Adventure 2 | 5 & 2 no1canbreakyou June 25 2011, 07:03:28 UTC
[ Shadow wasn't sure how long he'd gone on now-- the box he was locked in... It had prevented him from using his abilities.

Locked in a cell-like box, vents present like air holes for captured bugs. But no food.

No water.

It was a miracle he could survive this long... Rather, it was due to his status as Ultimate Life form that had kept him alive this long... Being genetically created to survive... And every second he wished he could just die.

He couldn't feel anything anymore, curled up on the floor of the box. If anyone noticed he was gone, he was certain they'd have found him by now. But...

That's the way things were. ]

[How long, how long had it taken before anyone could find the black hedgehog? He was gone, he had been missing, that much had been certain, and it wasn't a matter of Shadow needing time to be alone, to drift and wander as he was prone to do. No, something within Sonic had told him that something was wrong, and completely so.

Shadow could probably hear the rush toward the cell-like box as the blue hedgehog had sped toward, winds behind him picking up and also pushing him forward, making him that much faster.

But it may have already been too late.]

[ As he lay on the floor of the metal box, Shadow could hear the sound of rushing wind. He smirked somewhat, thinking of how he always knew Sonic was about when he heard the wind blow.

When he heard the voice call his name, he was certain he was just imagining things.

After all, it had been months. An impossibly long time. He stared at the floor, eyes blank, waiting. ]

anuvatajava June 25 2011, 21:57:09 UTC
[Months. It really had been months. Sonic kicked at the box, not caring that it was made of metal and he was entirely made of flesh. He kicked at it again, as if that would make it better or make it magically open somehow. Or incite the black hedgehog to respond, to get up and fight, to do something, anything. To do anything but...

He didn't want to think about it.]

Shadow, I know you're in there! Say something!

Erica "MD" Miller || The Gingerbread House Project/Rumplestilskin || Murder, A Few Minutes spintosurvive June 25 2011, 13:30:25 UTC
[Apparently, Rumplestiltskin had been keeping an eye on her ever since the Project's ending, biding his time to take his revenge on her for what she'd done. He'd tried over the years quite a few times, even being the cause behind the car accident, but he'd never managed to succeed... Until now.

It was worse than the accident. She could already tell as much, even if she's not had any medical background. She knew the feeling of almost dying and this? This was far worse.

But even the about-to-die part wasn't the worst bit. The worst bit was that Rumplestiltskin had left her alone, in some alleyway she doubted people would go down and see her broken form. The about-to-die bit was hard, but facing it alone was harder.

There was nothing to do but wait, really. Nothing to do but curl in on herself when the pain got to be too much. Nothing to do but lie there, wishing someone would come, even though she knew it was in vain.

She always knew she'd die alone.]

[She wasn't answering her phone. She wasn't at her apartment. She wasn't anywhere between home and work and Red's and Beast's. The Tailor had looked--actively. It was entirely possible that there would be news reports the next day of how septuplets seemed to have overrun the city looking frantically for something.

Of course, it was One who found her. Exhausted, shaking a hair from the strain of keeping so many eyes open so long, nerves half-shot to begin with from the worry of having once again let her slip under the radar and out of the Project survivors' protective circle.

Needless to say, this was not what he'd hoped to find.]

--MD! [It's useless, but he scrambles to the ground beside her, hands flying to her wrists to check her pulse.]

[She's alive. Barely. His mind is going millions of miles an hour--somewhere, close by, the dupes are beginning to struggle, almost unsustainable under this mental and emotional strain. There's nowhere to take her. Nothing's close enough. Because the look on her face, the blood on her hand already beginning to smear his shirt, says that 'close enough' is a few minutes ago.

They're going to lose her. Years of promises, and she's going to die here in an alleyway.

He's absolutely damned if he's going to leave her to that alone.] Don't be stupid. [He's strong to begin with, but brushing her hand away now is like a giant brushing off a gnat. His hands smooth her palms, cheeks, hair, just trying to keep her present with him a few moments longer.] You can't get rid of me. Never.

[When Megan was thirteen, she wrote up a list of ways she thought she would die. Car accident? Totally possible. Murdered in a dark alleyway? She could see it. Cancer of some sort? Maybe. It never crossed her mind that she would die from being crushed by grand piano that, for some strange reason, was rolling down the street and flipped over on top of her.

So she lay there in the middle of the street, a piano slowly crushing her chest as a crowd started surrounding her. She hurt everywhere and couldn't breathe and, as much as she hated to admit it to herself, just wanted it to be over.

And if it didn't hurt to laugh, she would be doing so at the idea that it took her being crushed by a piano to finally get some attention.]

[Mason pushed off the lamp post where he was watching the commotion. As far as accidental deaths go, this one certainly was on the list of bloody fucking random.

He steps around a few gawkers (Christ did anyone even call an ambulance? Not that it really matters) and leans over to take the girl's hand, pulling her soul free.]

There you go. All ready now.

Ready. Ready for what? I shouldn't be ready for anything considering I was just under a piano and...[That's when she notices the piano and what is obviously her body underneath it. And then she yelps.] I'm...I...that...what? I was killed by a piano?

Yeah. Bit of a freak accident that. Came out of no where. Well. That's not entirely true. Came from over there. [A wave of his hand.] Hit a bump and well, you can see the result.
