I heard Sarah Cox make a reference to 'Tranny Rachel on the breakfast show' on Thursday's afternoon show, saying something was funny because it sounded like Tranny Rachel. Made it sound like an on going character.
I thought a lot of last Saturday's Chris Moyles show from Newquay was verging on inappropriately homophobic, especially when they bought 'Westwood' in and it went from 'playful' comments to nasty.
Thanks for pointing this out. The BBC has a responsibility not to allow this. I didn't hear the broadcast but you're right - they need to know that this will not be tolerated. I have made a strongly-worded complaint on the website, saying:
Please tell Chris Moyles and Rachel to stop their despicable behaviour and their highly inappropriate remarks and suggestive comments about trans people. It is incredibly rude and not funny in the slightest. Where's the good example that the BBC is supposed to give? I can't believe you let this awful broadcast go out on prime time radio. I am disgusted.
Let this be the last time they get away with mocking trans people. Grrrrr ... feel my wrath!!!!!!!
On a side-note, was it Weird Al Yankovic "Driving a truck with my high heels on" that they played? I just wondered cos i love that song - in a trans-friendly environment that is a brilliant song!
I don't know who Al Yankovic is but it definitely sounds like the same song, the full name is the same. I agree it is a good song in a different context, though the verse about crotchless panties and nipple rings bugs me a bit. They've been playing it quite a lot.

I am not sure what song it was, I didn't hear that part of the broadcast, I only know what my friend told me of it.
