Wow! Thank you so much! I'm really enjoying myself writing this, so I guess that shows.

The first trial was Inanna and Ereshkigal, right down to being pinned to the wall. Once that idea cropped up I really liked it and the details built themselves around that.

Second trial...not so fancy, but again, the prompt suggested things.

I toyed around initially with having Silverbolt be the Anchor, but Skyfire, as you say, made so much sense I kept him there.

Naming robot bits after real components of medieval armor is so much fun! *cackles madly* Oh, la, sir knight, mayest I help thee with thy faulds? Truly it would take but a moment...

Unless RL trips me up, next section should go up in a few days. :)

I'm greatly enjoying this so far! But now I'm wondering - if Optimu wasn't supposed to find anything alive down there, just what was he supposed to do? Wander around and then come back up?

It's a contemplation maze - and the idea is you get out of it what you put into it. What he did once he was down there, if he had just gone down and said, screw this noise, and hopped back up again, what kind of things he was thinking, even how he handled the solitude. That was the test. For Optimus, there was this unintended aspect that got all physical on him, but he handled it as kindly as he could, and that was fully taken into consideration by Ultra Magnus and the others.
