“Its good to see you again Elita.”
Elita frowned and pulled Sari closer to her and the downed bodies of Bumblebee and Bulkhead as the giant spider circled her.
“Do…I know you?”
The spider chuckled. “I’m hurt Elita, we used to be such good friends. Have you really forgotten the mech that saved your life all those megacycles ago?”
Elita’s optics widened, the voice finally becoming recognisable, while Sari looked between the two in confusion.
“Elita, what’s he talking about?”
“It can’t be.”
“Ever wonder why all those cubes were abandoned? Turns out those spiders are poisonous, get enough of a dose, you go offline. But every now and then, a bite mutates, and that’s a far worse fate.”
Shaking her head in shock, Elita stood up, leaving Sari, Bumblebee and Bulkhead to walk closer to the huge spider.
“Optimus?”
In a flash of shifting legs and retracting skin, the spider vanished, leaving a tall mech in its place, mandibles curled around his mouth like a macabre faceplate.
“The name,” the mech replied. “Is Tarantulas.”
