Ever notice the longer the series has been around, the worse the fanfic gets? When everything is new and exciting, we usually see some good work but after a while, all we get is this.

*sigh*

I think it makes it harder to find the good stuff. But I started off in much smaller fandoms and I definitely noticed when I moved into larger ones that there was a lot more weirdness in them.

ARGH I hate going onto ff.net just to see if there are new TF fics, because there are just pages and pages of really awful MarySue/GaryStu fics....

Wow, Optimus really sounds like a jerk in that fic

Optimus was forced to make a choice, choose between his team, his family, or the woman he loved, and guess what? He chose that woman...

No version of Optimus would ever do that. Optimus is loyal to the end, he would NEVER abandon his team or his responsibilities just for a woman.

No one really acknowledged the poor child, let alone the couple.

And now we have Optimus the incompetant father who ignores his own child. Yeah, that's really in character, right? *eyeroll*

EDIT: oh, wait, I think that line meant that the other Bots ignored the child and the couple, not that the couple ignored the child. It's badly phrased I think.

Yeah, it took me a couple of goes to figure out what was going on in the last couple of paragraphs.

And all the canon characters are completely OOC. There really isn't much point of writing fanfiction when you mangle the characters beyond recognition just to satisfy your story. Might as well write original fiction.
