I don't...can't do this. Ugh.

I present Nexus for careful perusal.

An M-rated TF Prime/DMC crossover -- I'm guessing that to be Devil May Cry, but seeing as I've never played the game, I ignored that aspect, knowing full well that there would likely be references to occurrences/activities that I wouldn't understand. I'm OK with that, under most ( Read more... )

Yeah, I came to the conclusion it wasn't worth it once I hit that, myself. Continued to skim anyway as I tend to do before chucking it into the ignore existence of bin in my brain.

Needless to say, skimming could not avoid that.

Wait, the PoV character is dead but the story's not over? Crap, now I'm all confused. Who are these people again? This is why I never read crossovers...

Jack had to die to finish a transformation into some other creature that I would guess to be DMC related -- I don't know, but like I said, a good story doesn't need to explain much. Things can be understood.

So yeah -- he dies, comes back alive as this other thing, and goes on into some dream sequence type place that wouldn't make any sense if I was familiar with the games (assuming its in the games). In other words, he dies, comes back alive as some other thing, and life goes on.

It was the way this death was handled that horrified me. I had fairly severe depression in my teen years, and while I was never suicidal, I nearly got to that point.

Its not something you can say, "Here's some pills, son! Go kill yourself!" and move on with nary a sentence. It didn't take long for Jack to die. Swallowed, downed, done. WTF.

That's not how you handle that.
