[sword down, and a glare at that.]

Yes actually to the first one. I don't do weapons.

"You can't exactly program a monster to death, now can you? Besides it pays to be well-rounded, and I'm sorry to say that you look a little on the thin side.

"Now let's try it again. Maybe I can ratchet back the difficulty. Do you prefer Rabites or Slimes? Fur or no fur? Your choice!"

"Actually, I can program a monster to death. Or mind control it in some cases. Would you like a demonstration?"

"Sure, fine, this ought to be good." She waves boredly and punches up another round of monsters. "But after that, it's back to work."

Wha-- Hey, wait a second! You can't just do that!

"Oho, yes I can!"

She flaps her cloak in a flourish, and the inky blackness melts into the shadow cast by Ike's body.

"See?" A ripple in the shadows speaks. "Hey, don't look at me like that! It's not like I'm going to be doing nothing! I can help you out when I'm like this!"

Oh really? Like how?

"Oh, phasing through things, moving objects, stowing equipment... if the timing is right I can shift you around and have you attack multiple enemies at once. At least, I believe I can. It's been a while... I can't just open a portal to the surface, because I don't know where that surface is yet."

I am reasonably certain you missed my selective corporeality. So if I say, suddenly decide to phase underground...well, whatever could happen to you? <3

"I'd pop out of a dark corner none the worse for wear. Then of course I'd try to yank you in and you'd probably phase away somewhere else. Annnnnd this will probably continue back-and-forth until either I trap you in a shadow dome or we are both too exhausted to do anything useful so why don't we just skip the WHOLE thing in our mutual interest, and try to work together?"

[Glares daggers at your unassailable logic.] Fine. Don't think you'll enjoy the ride though.

"Don't worry. You won't feel a thing."

Except for possibly a slight chill if she gets too close. She melts into her shadow smoothly and silently, to the point where you wonder if she was there in the first place.

"Okay, if you need any sort of help, just ask. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that I can use when things get tough."

"If you can hide in my shadow, can't you at least do a little bit and cover me while you're at it?" Snake answered rather annoyed as he cocks the crossbow - not his choice of weapon, but one forced onto him by the world.

She snorts at the scruffy-looking solder. "You want me to move you too? Fine. I'll see what I can do."

She turns and walks into a shadow... and the glowing lines on her black cloak phase into nothing along with the rest of her.

"Stick to the wall. I'll need shadows to manipulate in the first place."

She may sound exacting, but when he does near a shady corner, the blackness seems to congeal and form iself around him eerily.

Don't you think you're being too harsh on the boy? He's giving it his all, at least. [Another councilor happens to drop by]

"Oh I'm only harsh on him to keep him from getting hurt. There are unimaginable monsters out there, you know that as well as I do. They have to protect us from them."

She smirks and lowers her voice. "Besides... I'd never say it to them, but this IS rather fun."

True enough. But I wouldn't want to overwork them. Push a person past his limits and you might break him.. or make him into another so-called monster.

You're a cruel woman, you know that? In some time or place, you must have been a great villain. Guhyahahah...
