*Rowan had her six-month check-up on the 9th. She is 26 inches tall, but we don't know what she weighs, because she was too wiggly on the scale. We got everything from 14 lbs. 4 oz. to 14 lbs. 10 oz. I think she's more like 15 lbs., but who knows? She's perfect, as usual ( Read more... )

Aww - Rowan is perfect! Kyle even mentioned after we saw you guys at Costco how cute she was :)

I meant to mention the book when we were talking the other night. I totally agree it was horrible. I asked a few people i know who had read it and they mostly liked it, but wtf - it sucked and well -she's just completely inappropriate and vulgar, and well - it just didn't do it for me at all. I was actually appalled by it when i finished it. Sad. Book club should definitely be interesting though. I can't wait to see what everyone thought.
I totally need to make thos PB cookies. I'm on a complete sugar/chocolate binge this week (Cupcakes and cheesecake, bag of pb m&m's, etc. so it should probably wait.
broke - me too :( We got our tax refund today and it's going straight to bills. boo!

I envy you your book club. Mine dissolved a few years back and I haven't had time nor motivation to join another. Must say, that book is unappealing on so many levels.

Broke sucks. I hate not having financial negotiability. :(

Perfectly-sized bambolinas rock, though!!!

Go Rowan! She sounds like she's doing great. Too wiggly for the scale is always a good sign :)

US Air is evil. they were for a time our only airline out of our local airport. Now they've got two competitors (allowing you to fly direct to a grand total of 4 cities!) so the evil has lessened significantly but you still have to keep an eye on them. For a long while their motto was "well we're in bankruptcy!" I seriously heard a flight attendant tell a passenger that on a all night red-eye flight when the person complained about their seat being broken. oh for the friendly skies!

We were so spoiled in Nashville--Southwest flew from Nashville to Columbus for cheap. No Southwest here. No much of anything here, and US Air is the ONLY choice for flying to Columbus. (Other airlines come up when you do a search--they're all "So-and-so flying for US Airlines"). Argh.

Capitalism isn't perfect, but *lack* of competition does bad things to businesses.

When you arrive/leave? How much of your time can I absorb? Have rides to/from airport already? Remember, I don't work!

I arrive Friday afternoon and leave Wednesday evening. I think my parents have worked out who's doing the airport runs, but feel free to call them.

Any more details about the shower? Emily e-mailed me and was concerned that she wasn't invited because she hadn't heard anything (except from me).

I sent my mom the list of addresses early last week. Haven't heard anything since.
I've had several people (starting two months ago, when it really was too early for such concerns) express dismay that a) I'm not having a shower, or b) they aren't invited.
And I keep saying, "I don't know how it's going; my mom's planning it."
When I started telling people this, I was a bit cranky because it was too early for everyone to panic; now I'm a bit cranky because *I* am beginning to panic. (I'm panicking on several fronts, beginning where everyone else is: too little notice means people won't be able to come. But I'm also starting to stress about pesky little things like, say, that we don't own a car seat, or a single cloth diaper, and have perhaps two, not-very-warm, outfits in each size for the first year. And since we've resolved not to go baby shopping until after the shower...).

Look: God forbid your baby comes early, you'll send Daniel/your mom/me to Walmart for weather-appropriate preemie clothes, preemie disposables, and a cheap infant seat (I know you don't want one, but I understand that the straps on convertible seats are often too high, on the lowest setting, for preemies/some newborns).

Otherwise, you'll be fine. :)

Obviously, we bought stuff before our shower (given that it was after she was born!), but I guarantee that no matter what, you'll wind up with things you'll never use, and you'll need to buy things later anyway.
