I've been reading Jung lately. It's been a long time since I've studied his words (since college), and I hadn't realized how directly Jungian many of my beliefs are.
I, too, don't see deity as something that requires human participation, or something that one should submit to. In my personal experience, however, exploring the inner worlds of mental psychic construction have led me to believe that, when I am actively participating in a deity-centered life model, I find I am more productive, more successful in the ways that I define success. I take that for what it's worth.
