My experiences aren't as extensive, but I know that my game kept freezing periodically if I entered and exited my house a lot, or when I was fast travelling a lot between Falkwreath, Whiterun and the manor.
I started a new file and began to build the manor again, and experienced the same freezing problems.
Sorry, I have no idea how to fix them XP But you're not the only one to experience bugs! I also say that the house in Morthal never gave me problems.
Well darn. I don't really like Morthal or Hjaalmarch - swampland infested with many-legged creepy crawlies? Ew. *insert general grumbling here* I'll see what the unofficial patch can do to fix the Lakeview Manor issues, but if I don't get a housecarl, chickens or a proper steward, even living in a swamp starts to seem attractive.
I haven't had anything major, but I've had the Unofficial Hearthfire Patch installed from day one, so that might be why. I seem to remember Rayya being a little buggy, and in frustration I just ended up disabling her in the console. Shame; she was kind of badass.
I couldn't do much with the weapons racks or the display cases. Bugged me SO bad. I don't generally collect weapons, but the ones I like, I keep, and I enjoy putting them out there to be seen. Trying to put them in the case manually is a great big irritant.
So I gave up, and built a library instead of an armory. oh, the fun I shall have collecting All The Books!
What kind of bugs do your display cases have? (You probably knew this, but having to put stuff in manually in the Hearthfire house cases is a feature and not a bug.) I have two dagger cases in Hjerim that don't let me take the darn daggers out or put any new ones in.
That's odd, I have that problem with the rack in the bedroom near the double bed. If the one in the cellar beside the stairs is going to have the same issue, I won't even bother building it. The one at the back of the cellar works normally, though.
I think I might make Sven essential. Somehow it doesn't fit his character concept to be armoured like a tank. :D However, I did give him a curved. Sword.
My main character needs Rayya in her life ASAP. Dual-wielding gorgeous Redguard who doesn't whine about having to carry your dragon bones, what's not to love?
Oddly enough, on another play file I have no problems with Rayya, and the steward hasn't wandered off (which makes me think it may be an issue with Sven specifically). The weapon racks at Lakeview Manor are just as buggy, though.
