i'm not sure if this sounds good or bad! yeah, all that jazz kinda sucks but you might get something super good out of it. so let's hope for something SUPER GOOD!! it's nice hearing what's going on with you though :D we all miss you! <3
Haha, truth be told, I don't have a clue either! The stress part of this isn't desired, but my boss keeps mentioning that this should be a great opportunity for me... not that he has given me any details. He has stock, so I think he signed a nondisclosure or something related to the sale. :p
I hope you're right and it ends up something super good, and better. :D
Damn, that's somewhat disappointing that the company is being sold. Though not surprising the higher-ups didn't tell anybody. I often wonder if becoming a "manager" makes people think they are not mere mortals any more^_~
Hope the company recognizes your efforts and give you that raise. Mind your health though. Those working hours sound like a sure way to get sick.
Yup, disappointing, but at least it wasn't a surprise. I knew from the beginning that they were owned by a portfolio company and how that type of ownership typically dumps investments after 3-5 years. All I wanted was the chance to get my license, and I did, so I'm quite satisfied. I just don't like how they are handling the sale. Employees could be out of jobs and in this economy, damn it.
My boss dropped another gem yesterday and mentioned that "someone" should be calling me, but he doesn't really know and can't tell me more than that. I tell you, I feel like I'm playing some riddle game these days. :p
Are you a prophet or something? Totally got sick this week, although I think it was related to my trip to Las Vegas last week. The stress isn't helping much, though. Normally, I would have been able to take a day and recover, but not this week. Ugh.
You are having a mega busy year! But congrats on the CPA! My brother's job was kind of doing the same thing to him, giving him longer and longer hours, then sending him overseas frequently too. Then his son was born in October and it was killing him, so he had to look for a new job, fortunately he managed to land a new one in January. Managerial position so the hours are much better! I hope your luck is as good with the 'centralized' position!
My job was doing something similar, suddenly more work, less compensation, then they decided that telecommuting had to be reduced and more hours to boot. And that's when I finally got pregnant of course! I turned in my notice at the end of the year, there was just no way I could do more hours and work while dealing with my health and pregnancy. I mean, I see a doctor 2-4 times a week!
Anyhow, great to see you're alive. ;) Hope you get to write again soon, really enjoy your work!
Very nice for your brother! It must be such a relief for him to be able to stay closer to home with his new family. I have to admit that I was half-eager for the sale and the chance to find a job with a small commute. :p My old boss said that the market is great out there and that he'd 100% reference my work, so if the job is simply more work without much compensation to match, I already know my answer.
Hey, hey, congrats on the pregnancy!! Although, wow, that must have been a rough pregnancy to see the doctor so often. Even a normal pregnancy would be rough with a full-time job, let alone one with extra hours and poor compensation to boot. I find it incredible how companies demand for loyalty and yet don't show any loyalty in return.
Haha, barely alive, at least. :) I itch to write, so it'll happen again eventually, but man, I don't know where the time is.
First off, thank God you're fine. It's worrying that you haven't been updating on LJ for so long. XD
Secondly, CONGRATULATIONS for being recognised for your work! Though it must be killing you to struggle with all the different tasks meant for others. But it feels great to be recognised for such dedication. As long as you like your company, personally I think that's the most important thing - even if it means hiatus to those plot bunnies in your head ><;;
Take your time to write, and remember to take a breather every now and then! Hopefully 5/29 would come with good news to you and give you more than some verbal recognition!! ALL THE BEST! And press on!!! Take care!
Haha, I'm fine, truly. I just don't like to annoy people with my uneventful life and first-world problems. :)
Thank you! Honestly, getting that recognition is actually a big deal to me, especially with it being basically two and three levels above. I've been in work places where the manager took credit for my work and another place where I was lost under levels of inexperienced managers and ultimately unrecognized for my efforts. For the heads of the accounting team to tell me, unsolicited, that I'm indispensable... Yeah, that makes me feel pretty damn good about myself. :D
We shall see what next week brings. I've been warned that the next two months are going to suck, but if it's for the right company/people, I'm willing to put in that work. The itch to write is still there, but we'll see what happens about having the time!
Random is good!! I'm definitely proud of my accomplishments at work and that I have impressed people who I admire for various reasons. It's just a shame that things are happening like this. I hate seeing other people get fired. ^^;
