Thank you for the update! Haven't read it yet, your updates are very long (word count is like a full completed Big Bang fic in itself!), which I love! ^^ ♥

I also have a problem with motivation. I'm going to be very selfish and say that there are a lot of other things I'd rather be doing than writing these days.
You're not alone! ;p But man, I thought writing was supposed to be your hobby? Which you do whenever you want, not whenever you can :)

Aah I understand about great ideas going to fics instead of original works that can be published.
Though, one of my friends who writes Supernatural AU fics published one of her epic fics in Amazon Kindle store as an original story, by changing characters' names and expanding the fic a lot. And from what the author says, it sells good.

We will miss your SxS fics in the future but I'm glad that you're still writing/thinking of writing original stories! ^^ ♥ I wish you best of luck, dear!

Haha, never thought of comparing my chapter lengths to Big Bang fics, but I guess that's true enough! I just can't help it--I get a set of scenes stuck in my head and I can't post a chapter until I have all of those elements done ( ... )

Haha, posting a new update is practically a reminder for myself that I'm still alive and functioning. ;)

I totally understand the move from fanfic. I've done that myself. I haven't written anything fanfic in probably close to 2 years. My original writing has swallowed all my time and I'm pretty happy with that. I'm not so happy that I've left stories hanging but I just can't seem to find the motivation to finish them *sigh*.

I don't regret writing fanfic and I not only got myself a reader base because of that, but I met some wonderful friends through my fanfic writing.

There are m/m publishers out there that are good (I'm assuming you would be writing m/m stories). I publish with Torquere Press and my experiences with them have been very positive. I have some author friends with Samhain as well and they've been very satisfied with them, but I have no personal experience with them. I've also got an author friend who publishes exclusively through Smashwords and has been quite pleased with their service. I've actually got plans to publish one of my stories through Smashwords (it's mpreg and EPIC in size).

Wow, has it really been 2yrs now? Time goes by so dang fast. That's awesome to hear how your original writing has been able to replace the fanfiction. Have to admit that I'm terrified of leaving stories hanging when it comes to original fiction. I've always been motivated to finish fanfiction, but not so with my originals. ^^;

Oh yes, definitely will never regret writing fanfiction. I've met so many great people over the years and I've had the opportunity and support to improve my writing. It's amazing community, this world of fanfiction.

Haha, I actually have to write something first and then I'll focus on where to publish, but I've seen several LJ friends/authors use Smashwords and it sounds promising. But again, need to actually put something together, and given my track record, that may take another three years. *laugh*

You have to do what makes you happy. Who knows maybe you'll come back to fandom one day.

I wish you luck.

Thank you so much! Honestly, I don't think I'll completely leave SxS behind, but I think the time of epics is done. I've sacrificed a few too many original story ideas to SxS. ^^;

I think 10 years is a pretty admirable run. ;) She had a good point, especially with something like 'Blind Sight', that could have certainly been original fiction. You really are very talented, and I'm glad you're going to be doing what makes you happy. :) Hopefully we'll still have the occasional LJ update?

Well, dang, it has been 10yrs, almost on the dot. I didn't mean to plan it that way, but maybe that's how things work? :p Miss Dincht was a wise "old" lady in many ways (she always called herself old, partly because of her siblings), but that was one thing that really stuck to me. I didn't realize how SxS was eating away at some of my original story ideas until she said it.

Haha, I doubt I can leave SxS behind completely, so they should pop up on occasion. I'm also thinking of posting my original stuff as I go. I'm not taking this route because I want to make money or anything like that--I just want to make a book/story of my own and not rely on another's work. Focusing on a publish-able novel is motivation to that goal. ;) So yes, should still be updating on LJ every now and again.
