Bah, for some reason, I just can't get working on that personal statement for medical school... It's like, I have it all planned out, but it's not coming out of my head...

The main characters definitely sound pretty well rounded, though as I read through all of your characters, I can see distinct parallels. If you want them to be there, then that's good, but I'd probably recommend more of a diversity of characters. So far, you have the "strong silent" type, "the dreamer" type, and the "angry" type, but what about the happy type? The emotional type? The sad/pessimistic type?
Also, I find that I strongly relate to Zephyris. Coin-kidink?!

Well, the thing I really tried not to do was use a "stereotypical" image and base them off that. Though I must admit, that was how I started out. I'll also admit that my first influence was the four people groups in Yuu Yuu Hakusho and Saiyuki.
Lol. Hix was Sanzo I suppose, Zephiris was Hakkai, Hageshi was...uh...I guess Gojyo, and Kit was definitely Goku.
Actually, Kit got so hyper that I HAD to change his character a little >_>
I said a chapter! >_> Uhm, though I need to go over notes really badly before I write anything there...
