Some pix of projects I've completed recently. First up, the purple bling 'bolero' that I made long enough to be a cardigan. (You still can't see the glittery strand. I gots the good photo equipment, but not so much with the skillz.) My first 'proper' garment!

Both are lovely. How many hours does it take to do the sweater and little throw? What gauge do you work in?

The first thing you have to understand is that 'bog standard' yarns in the UK are different from those in the US. If you're into yarn at all, you might know that the typical yarn you find in the US is 'medium' wieght or '4'. (Thicker yarns = larger numbers.) The typical yarn you find in the UK is 'light' weight or '3'. There are, of course, yarns in both countries of all weights, but 3 is predominant here, and 4 is predominant there ( ... )

I used to knit quite a bit, and my mother learned to knit in Austria. She did incredible things when I was little. She taught me to knit European style.

Oh, and the baby blanket is around 25 hours. Not sure on the sweater, maybe the same. That was a complicated pattern of stitches, and for the fronts (both left and right), I took out every row at least once because of mistakes. Once I'd worked my way past the armholes (the thing is made all in one piece), I didn't make nearly as many mistakes and it was clear sailing from then on.
