aw horrible acid blee

I think it's significant that I've had to torrent Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog even after having actually purchased it from iTunes (since the stream on Hulu also doesn't play). It doesn't just not play, it actually CRASHES my computer. (But I will see it, by God; the first four minutes of part I, which I've experienced about six times now, is ( Read more... )

Because I first tried to watch it on Hulu, and that didn't work; and then I decided I'd just drop $ on it to buy it from the iTunes store, thinking it'd be delivered in .mov format... but it's kind of not, and I can't even find the actual files themselves (they aren't in the iTunes library, that's for sure)... and then the purchased copies actually crashed my 'puter.

So I torrented it and now I have it as .avi files. And I can watch it. Eventually - I'm starving after my trip to Value Village, and an inadequate breakfast of a quarter of a bagel with cream cheese and a quadruple soy latte, so I'm going to the pub to get a cheeseburger and a salad.

I have no idea; all I know is that it crashed my machine (which, in general, .mov files never do). I couldn't find the files that were downloaded from iTunes (because, honestly, I've had about 30 minutes to deal with this entire issue from the beginning) but they did show up in the application - but I don't know what format they were in. I have never tried to buy video from iTunes before, and now I know that it's best for me not to bother.

Mark, c'mon, you know I'm stupid; but the problem is now solved. I figured out a workaround to get the results I needed, so there it is. I'm just trying not to consider myself out four bucks for absolutely nothing; my financial situation isn't so dire that it's that big of a deal. I'm just considering it a tip. :)

I really wish I could have not had a cold Fri and Sat and made it out... oh well.

Glad it was good though!

Hollywood's band has a song up on their myspace...

It was good, and we missed you. Teresa says hi!

And um, just to appeal to prurient interests, Daniel Riddle is even more of a dreamboat than before. His face actually shows his age, but in a really beautifully sculpted sort of way. He's got the Jeremy Irons gene for sure.

He has good bone structure.

I fondly remember any compliments passed my way by both Mr. Riddle and Mr. Keating back in the day. And Mr. Hollywood. That is like, the nice way of saying I'm still hung up on rock dudes. Er. You know.

Did I mention that as basically as soon as my fever broke I threw out my back? Welcome to the oldening!

I feel your pain. I'm trying to show this to my low-tech non-computer geek friend, and though her machine plays video files just fine, anything streaming is just a mess.

I noticed that the VLC media player makes everything play better, it's not such a hit and miss proposition any more. It's not a matter of having a faster machine, it's software that's not so piggy. I think there's a technological level that once you get there, you don't ever really need a better machine, except to run bloated malware that the big boys tell you you should.

I love VLC... it enables me to watch fun things like Heroes Unmasked, the BBC supplemental show, which was kindly sent to me by an LJ pal... but it couldn't help me this time.

My processor is hella slow, though... it's 8 years old and can't be upgraded, so I have to get a newer machine.
