I've been looking for a decent hooded, waterproof jacket - a good zip-front windbreaker, maybe with some lining to make it warm - for cheap, for quite some time now ( Read more... )

true dat, just don't use a credit card there. cash or check ONLY. all of the scams in MN revolve around people having information that they got from DSW. swear to jebus.

....my knowledge of shoes is quite limited. i know i like cons and you like docs. :) thinkin' happy about you anyways.

Looks like they just opened, too. (on September 17, according to their website!)

Nope, they've been there awhile. They might have moved...well, they HAVE moved once (they are in what used to be Borders). I think they were going to open a new location by the IKEA, too.

Contrary to the other comment, I've never had any trouble with DSW and credit card stuff (here, or in MI, or in TX). Mom and I have spent $$$$ there, but then we both have closets filled with shoes.

I love it when thrift store runs yield kickass goodies. I used to hit a bunch of Goodwill stores around PDX looking for oldskool IBM keyboards. I now have a ton of them. :)

Have you seen Across The Universe yet? I saw it last night, and kept thinking of you. I am looking forward to your reaction.

Hint: it's better than that Bee Gees tripe in the same way that today's BSG is better than Galactica 1980. (Well, that's maybe not being fair to the original BSG, it never sucked as hard as the Bee Gees product.)

Oh, yeah, I really want to hear your reaction to this one.

I have been living in a pair of Privo shoes. They are super cushy - have an insole padding that is literally an inch thick.

I also like Dansko shoes.

Both are relatively expensive, though you might be able to find them for sale somewhere. I always spend a chunk of money on good shoes because it's totally worth it. Uncomfortable footwear can lead to back problems and numerous other body issues. Also, the better made the shoes are the longer they last and easier it is to get them repaired, or resoled when they wear out.

I bought the Privos on sale for $75 at Nordstroms (sorry. I got the Danskos at Clogs-n-More for $150. They have a location downtown and one on Hawthorne. Also, you could always go to the shops and try on the shoes and find which size fits you the best and the style you like and then order the same shoe at a discount online.
