boo-ya! - thrift score GOOOOOOAAAAAALL

I've been looking for a decent hooded, waterproof jacket - a good zip-front windbreaker, maybe with some lining to make it warm - for cheap, for quite some time now.

One trip to the strangely secret, forgotten Salvation Army in Milwaukie, walking distance from my work, netted me TWO jackets of that description, one gunmetal gray and one black, plus a very cozy and cute black corduroy jacket with fake sheepskin lining and really lovely brass "compass" snaps. And an ultrasuede scarf. And a Gloria Vanderbilt printed long-sleeve top.

For $12. Total.

I've never been to that S.A., and I thought I'd been to every thrift store within a 10 mile radius. I didn't even know it was there. That weird strip mall has everything - Quizno's, Sally Beauty Supply, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Albertson's... hell, they probably have a sex toy shop AND a church in there somewhere.

Now I am free to spend actual money on some orthopedically decent shoes that don't look like catbutt. (I have to figure out where - Shoe Pavilion didn't have anything I liked in my size. Aerosoles, in Pioneer Place Mall? Nordstroms? [God no please, not there.] Any of the fine shoe places in Lloyd Mall? [NO! NO! Please! I hate the mall!]... suggestions welcome... brand suggestions welcome, too...)

yay!, thrift score, comment fishing, greed fulfilled
