kirk: leonardo di caprio ( i know but i think he could pull it off) I'd be down with that - I heart Leo. Bones : Jude Law No. I demand an actual Southerner, preferably one from actual Georgia. Or maybe Louisiana. Scotty: Ewan McGregor ( possible Kirk too) All wrong for Kirk - no way, he'd be a nightmare. He's too good and too showy to be relegated to Engineering. I was thinking James MacAvoy, or (tee hee) Jonny Lee Miller. Uhura : Pam Grier or Halle Berry Pam is way too old. Halle is way too NO FUCKING WAY - she's already cast in too many genre properties, and she's sucked at all of them. (And I like Halle, but I want her away from my Trek.) I was joking about Beyoncé, but she's got the right look - she's too dainty, though. Uhura has to look like she could kick your ass in 30 different ways, without breaking a nail. Sulu : Jet Li or chow yun fat They're both too old. And Chinese. And why waste mad martial arts skillz on driving the Enterprise?

It's be interesting to have McConnaghey as Bones - the stoner Bones instead of the drunk Bones.
Billy Connolly's too old, IMHO. Scotty is canonically about 4-5 years older than Kirk, so he'd be 40 at the very most.
Gina Torres would be cool, as long as whoever is playing Kirk is fairly tall. I looooove her. I want her and Tawny Cypress on a show together as ass-kicking, cool-as-ice bounty hunting sisters.
Reggie Lee is foxy - and he already played a character partially named after Sulu (he played a character named Hikaru on Babylon 5). That'd be okay (even though he's Korean; so's James Kyson Lee, and I don't have a problem with him).
Is this new movie supposed to include people from that ship, because as you know, the Enterprise-D is NextGen, with all its rich, Picardy goodness. Unless you actually meant the Enterprise or Enterprise A, which is Kirks brood.
That being said...
I think John Cho for Sulu. Not sure if he's gay though. And he's Korean, not Japanese. Still...it wouldn't be the worst choice. To be honest, I think a lot of the parts would have to go to relatively uknowns, which would kind of be best, I think.
NERD PRIZE GOES TO BILL! Yes, it's true, it is the NCC-1701, and I need to have my ass kicked by a jury of my Klingon peers right now for mistyping. Maybe it was just a Freudian slip, because, really Picard is MY captain. I love Kirk to death, and he was the first captain I ever loved, but I serve proudly under Picard.
John Cho would be awesome, as long as he had a chance to be funny. I think it's shocking that nobody is coming up with great Japanese actors - I mean, Ken Watanabe should make somebody happy, even though he's all wrong for Sulu.
They've really all gotta be in their 20's to make the thing fly, and I'm simply too unfamiliar with the chilluns these days to make a single suggestion.
Damn, I had Bones totally cast like a month ago, and I can't for the life of me remember who it was now.
But now that I'm thinking about it again, maybe John Hawkes (Sol on Deadwood) would be a good Bones. He's a little too subtle in everything I've seen him in, but I bet he could sell a good ol' McCoy "Damn it, Jim! I'm a doctor not an escalator!"
I'll have to consult with Aaron, I think he's got some pencilled in. We've got the sequel to Buckaroo Banzai almost fully cast on paper.
