If you want to hold off of watching The Venture Bros. until the next time I'm in Portland (I have an appointment on July 12 and will be staying through that weekend) we ought to get together and watch the second season. I suspect I would find your reactions to it quite entertaining. :)
Maybe, maybe not - I am actually almost completely silent and rapt as I'm watching it, so that I don't miss anything. It was the same with The Tick - a "listen and learn" kind of experience, i.e. the opposite of watching Heroes. :)
I feel that I am missing out badly on most of the humor of Metalocalypse, because of my general ignorance of "modern" metal... the best jokes are completely lost on me, the way that the Venture Brothers jokes about Jim Foetus and Stiv Bators would be lost on someone else (but had me slack-jawed in amazement).
Hang on to the July 12 date - I might not be available - but if I am, HELL YEAH let's get together and watch some motherfucking TV.
Given Christopher McCulloch, principle mastermind behind The Venture Bros., is also a Tick alum, your viewing method doesn't come as too much of a shock. :)
I miss some of the referential humor in both The Venture Bros. and Metalocalypse, but referential humor is only a portion of the genius in both shows.

We should converge so we can do the handoff, and maybe watch THREE TO GET READY.
