Bernie Wrightson is a *great* guy. He was the first serious, big-time comics creator I ever met who clearly didn't give a shit about the industry totem pole or anyone's place on it. I was plankton on the funnybook food chain when we met in the early 90's, barely out of art school with maybe a hundred pages of published work behind me. There are a lot of egos in this business and I'd had bad experiences with several of them. Bernie treated me and others like me like peers instead of a wannabee. It meant a lot.

Once again, I totally feel you on the having to get through a work day (or any day) when you're fighting panic. I applaud your keep on keepin on.

I feel the pressure of "Positive Attitude!" when I've been absolutely messed up while at work and still trying to remain pleasant and receptive to people-in fact, my job demands it. Co-workers will pull me aside if they perceive I'm less than chipper, and remind me to modify my behavior. So I get it on both sides, you could say, but hey, I'm still here. I must be doing something right along the line..
