[AU][Open Log] Ten Years Later....

Feb 06, 2012 20:05

[Mod note: Open thread, now through the end of AU week. Since it was mentioned in the comments of one of the character journals, we thought it would be interesting if there was a place for these conversations to happen if the muns want to do so publicly. Participation is not required. And since there is only one room for it, I see no need for ( Read more... )

Echizen Ryoma sat in the bar, coat hanging off the back of his wheelchair and a green colored drink in his hand. His hair was cropped rather short again, ending by the nape of his neck, but still his bangs covered his ears completely. His hands were a paler, more sickly hue than his face, which gave the hint that he probably was wearing concealing make-up to make himself look healthier. He scanned the commonroom thoughtfully, lost in memories of times he had been here... And times when he hadn't, when he had instead been hiding away from whatever bully there was that wanted to give him a hard time. Already ten years, huh...

It was easy to identify his old classmate as the thin and sickly looking man in the wheelchair. It amazed Ohtori sometimes how naive he had been in his youth, he had no idea at all how sick Ryoma truly was when he had first met him. Walking up to the younger man, he paused to be sure the short ponytail he'd been growing was still neatly in place, it was something of a newer nervous habit of his, he finally reached the table and smiled brightly.

"Care for some company, Echizen-san?"

"No, go away." It was said seriously enough, but then Ryoma looked up and grinned. "Just sit your ass down somewhere, Ohtori-san. It's been a while."

Ohtori took a step back before realizing Ryoma was joking with him, smiling and tugging at the hair tie, he sat at the table across from the other.

"It has been. I guess my schedule has been making it hard to keep in touch. How's life?"

Yanagi sat at the bar, taking a time out. He had a feeling that he would be hounded by some of the current students, since this was where his current career had taken off. He didn't think just playing tennis could make a person famous, but there it was, and there were several that wanted his advice and such.

It was good to have the chance the people watch, something he hadn't done in a while. Perhaps someone would approach, and he wouldn't mind at all to strike up a conversation with them.

Someone else who was a professional tennis player by now was Tooyama Kintarou. He spotted Yanagi and quickly made a beeline to him, a whiskey glass already in his hand. "Yo, yo, yo, yo!"

"Hello, Kintarou." REnjig greeted him. "How have you been doing?" It was funny how even though they were both professionals, they didn't see too much of each other, or so it seemed. Though Kintarou was hard to miss with his bright red hair and bright personality.

"Just fine, just fine." Uninvited, he sat down, long legs crossing over each other. "Hey dude, what was up with that game? You totally weren't on par, dude..."

He did NOT do reunions. They really weren't his thing. Once Akutsu turned his back complete on a past, he did his damnest to pretend it never happened. The school had been strange. It's made him confront a lot of things he hadn't wanted to and made him a little more human in the process. He'd found love there. Him...of all people. So, it wasn't so much a bad experience, but one he had already moved on from. But he wouldn't deny Karou from seeing his friends and reminising. But he also didn't have to like it.

So, the still very tall, still far far too thin ex-biker plopped on the nearest flat surface and ordered the strongest thing the bar had. He wished he could smoke, and not one of those rediculous electronic smokes his lover insisted on. Since he didn't spy the other around, he thought it was safe to fish one of his hidden cigs out of a pocket and light it. Bliss. Tobacco and booze. Now, he just hoped to finish one of the two in peace.

"Fuck." He didn't even have the common decency to say it in his head. He only glanced to the side to note the rather sickly Echizen. He didn't even bat an eye. Just like 10 years ago when he hadn't given a damn about the chair then. He still didn't give a damn now. A brat was a brat, no matter how old they got. "So is inturruptin a man when he's enjoyin himself, brat." He took a long sip of his drink.

"... Brat?" What surprised him about the word was probably the fact that he was surprised at all. Yes.

He'd heard that there was a lounge. It might be nice just to chill. He didn't think anyone would want to play cards with him or anything. Not now anyways, that he was internationally known as a Card Shark. So instead, he supposed he would have to find a different sort of fun. Looking around, he spotted what looked to be the most comfortable place to sit and headed straight for it. It'd be nice to lounge and just gather his thoughts before plotting out his next move while he was in Japan.

"Ara, if it isn't the luck rabbit himself." Tomoka smiled down to him as she was about to pass the man by. She was holding a small hand that belonged to the boy hiding a little shyly behind her. He peeked up at the other curiously and tilted his head but didn't speak up. All of the new people around who knew his parents so well Kouji was starting to feel a little nervous even though he was usually good with dealing with strangers. Something about the fact his parents were friends with everyone though made him feel anxious that he didn't really know them all yet. And of course they were adults! But he was still having fun at least.

At first he hadn't seen her. She had come on the wrong side of him. He didn't let it show though. He reacted to the voice and turned with a warm and inviting smile. The sight of the young lady was a welcome one. She was still just as beuatiful as the first time they had met. Motherhood hadn't seemed to hinder that. He smiled at her and then waved to the little boy. "If it isn't the prettiest girl in the entire world. And who is this?" He sort of bent down to the child's level and gave him a friendly smile.

When Ryoma went off to meet with other friends, Ohtori moved to a comfortable looking chair in the corner and checked his pocket for his cellphone, thinking he felt it vibrate in spite of the knowledge he had taken the battery out. It would be nice to see who was going to come here, especially while he waited for Hiroshi to catch up with Niou. He decided to be a little daring and ordered himself a beer, sort of an odd follow up to the Ponta, but refreshing all the same.

Tomoka had gotten done introducing Kouji to Ryoma thanks to Horio tracking down the little guy. After meeting with Sengoku as well he definitely feeling less shy but still overwhelmed at all the new people despite familiar faces being around. He was finding it was rather hard to track down the adults he did know... or at least he thought so until he saw a tall and unmistakable one sitting down.

"Uncle Ohtori!" cheered the little boy as he rushed away from his mother while she was mingling for a few moments.

Blinking at the familiar voice, Ohtori hardly had time to drop to his knees from the seat and catch the little boy he had taken on as something of a nephew. Smiling, hugged him tightly. "Hey Kouji-cub! You've gotten so big!" He glanced around the room and decided that while it was safe enough here, he should look into finding Kouji's parents. "How old are you now? 12?" He teased, loving the rare chances he got to see the little boy.

Kouji laughed as he was hugged by the other and shook his head. "Nope!" he smiled and held up his two fingers to signify how old he was. Though he still considered that to be being a big boy too! Even if he did like being called the little wolf by his parents. "Where's Unkie Hiroshi?" he asked, tilting his head up curiously.
