I'd like to propose some alternative programming for those of us who don't want to waste our evening in a high school gym. Anyone interested?

What could we possibly have to talk about.

I did a little, um, background check...

[kurt removes his glasses why yes this was staged for maximum dramatic impact]

Unless there are multiple strapping Italian men named Tybalt with anger issues in the world--

[Kurt pushes it forward with his fingertips for inspection. A shadow of worry passes over his face.]

Okay, what sort of person wouldn't go to an event that greatly increases your chance of getting both completely wasted and laid?

A loser, that's who.

[Kurt makes a kind of taken-aback little cough thing.]

Everyone participating in this thing is either promiscuous or insane. You'd like it there, wouldn't you.

[le sigh]

Don't get your hopes up, Shilo. I'm sure you'll find a very nice boy to go with. Or girl, whichever. Or you could ditch it and hang out at the movie theater with the cool kids.

You don't want to go? Why not?

It's not really a real prom, is it? I didn't go to school with any of you. The junior prom is grossly overrated as a concept, but this is a farce.

[yeah and he doesn't have anyone to go with THIS IS IMPORTANT]

N-No, but... Well, I thought I wasn't going either, but a lot of people talked me into it. I really don't think it'll be much like a prom, more just like a big party. People are always looking for a reason to kick back and relax in Mayfield. Ah, plus I figured if I didn't go, I'd just be sitting somewhere else thinking about it.

The alternative to prom would be -- I don't know, we could all dress up and go mock the B-movies or something. It'd be more fun than a heteronormative 1950s social function. And the other people in town aren't the kind of people I'd hang out with.

That depends on what the alternative is.

Nothing too fancy, but it 'd beat standing around in a school gym.

So not actual plan yet?

Almost anything can beat standing around a school, but it is still a step above staying in a house alone with a creepy drone kid.
