Can someone explain to me where Clint/Coulson comes from? Because I sometimes feel like I missed an entire MARVEL film somewhere along the line where they had chemistry, of any kind. I think someone on my lj flist is responsible for it because she wrote the first fic and it just Kept On Growing taken up by other people and such, something about Coulson being Clint's handler, this is before his Epic Crush on Capt. America's revealed in the MCU movies.....

I just don't get it, I mean, I see the comedy value, but there is SO MUCH CANON EVIDENCE for other things, that I just don't see how it's rooted itself into the fandom to this degree. Agents of SHIELD fandom is full of Clint/Coulson fic, for fuck's sake. It's BIZZARE.

I it's definitely a "you just get it - or you just don't" kind of thing, because I don't get it either, especially when you consider the canon push for CA/Coulson (and Clark Gregg's precious Avengers blooper with Chris Evans).

It makes me sad that Jeremy Renner will likely never appear on AoS. The fandom would explode - and so many people would be completely baffled.

Part of me thinks it's just Jeremy Renner fangirls (does he have fangirls?) looking for a slash pairing, and Coulson's pretty much the only one Clint acknowledged onscreen for a while, ergo Clint/Coulson?

I do kind of want to hit them all with that blooper reel and go LOOK! THEIR LOVE. FOR REALS. IF YOU'RE GOING TO WRITE SLASH AT LEAST ACKNOWLEDGE THIS THING RIGHT HERE.

Hawkeye on SHIELD would be hilarious, especially if they poked sticks at the Clint/Coulson thing by implying some sort of tryst between Clint and Ward or something.

I don't even. I mean, I get Clint/Natasha and all that, but the Avengers fandom is full of weird pairings - I mean, I mostly say nothing about it because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings/ship.

There are some odd pairings in the fandom, Clint/Coulson is probably the most popular one that makes no sense to me. I'd never begrudge anyone their ships, but it just seems like this one is completely based on nonexistent fanon? Like, it totally makes sense to the people immersed in it, but to anyone looking in from the outside it's like WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN.
