You know, I'm pretty sure this is one of those universally loved books, because pretty much everyone I've talked to has enjoyed it at least one some level.
And everyone says I should read Doomsday Book next. When I get around to it, I let you know!

My recommendation would be DOOMS DAY BOOK. It's more time-traveling historians, and while not as funny as this, it does feature a familiar face, even though it takes place earlier than this one does.
I also adored PASSAGE, which isn't a time-traveling historians book, but very, very good.
