Finished! I'm starting to draft my review now, and I've added a link to this already. :)

My recommendation would be DOOMS DAY BOOK. It's more time-traveling historians, and while not as funny as this, it does feature a familiar face, even though it takes place earlier than this one does.

I also adored PASSAGE, which isn't a time-traveling historians book, but very, very good.

That's a good recommendation, as I already own Doomsday Book! You're also must be the fifth person to recommend it to me. I think I need to move that up my TBR a bit. Thanks for mentioning Passage as well!
