Erm... 'Yowane Haku' means 'speaking weak willed words'. My creators gave it to me after they realized I couldn't sing very well...

That...doesn't really fit, does it? Singing's not the same as speaking, right? And I'm sure you don't have a weak will!

W-well... in Japanese a lot of things can have a double meaning, or their translation is a little looser in English. 'Speaking' can also mean 'sighing', which can kind of be like singing, or making noise... I-I don't sing as badly as I used to, but the company that made my sister and I weren't too happy with their failures...

That makes a bit more sense, I guess, but it's still not really positive.

...what's English?

Well, my mom named me Garfield I think...or maybe it was my dad, OK they both did sure, but my second dad...err...Mento my team leader, assigned me the name Beastboy because my powers let me shapeshift into animals and I was just a little kid back then.

How did your parents pick Garfield?

Oh, your new name makes a lot of sense!

I was named Jinx by the Carnival folks that took care of me. The did it because for about half a year I was just known as "The kid" or "The Brat" but they started to realize how unlucky stuff started happening around me so I became "Jinx".

I actually took on a few different names when I was a criminal, stuff to fill out paperwork with for the government and stuff.

I guess that fits, though it doesn't have very positive connotations.

How did you pick your other names?

Eh, I grew into it.

Sometimes I took the names of famous people or Characters from Fiction just to see if anyone would get the references, like Dianna Scully from The X-files.

That's good, at least. I feel like I've grown into my name too.

Hm, I'm afraid I don't get that reference... I couldn't really do that unless I used Wigly or Mikan or something.

Ah yes, the name James Mendetta has a powerful history attached to it! The last three generations of Mendetta men were named James as a tribute to one another, and there are others scattered throughout our family history going by Jim, Jimmy and Kimo. Each one of them a fine upstanding officer of the law, in fact the last name of Mendetta has always been tied to "Officer, Detective, Constable..." or something to that effect because our family has been protecting and serving for generations.

Heh, yeah till you came out with your super powers and ruined your chances of becoming a real police officer.

*Growl* Ahem...I took the superhero name Noir because my love of the old fashioned Noir detective stories fit perfect with my Shadow powers, because that's what Noir means in french, black.

That's pretty neat! Do you think your real name fits, apart from the whole ruined your chances thing?

Why do you need another name as a superhero?

Eh, I look like him so I guess...it's the only name I've had all my life and my mom was the one who agreed it should be James not Jim like my dad.

Superheroes usually choose a secret Identity to hide their real ones and protect their loved ones...I kinda blew that by not wearing a mask...whups.

Ah, okay.

Heh, that does seem like a bit of a mistake.

Yours too? I was named Kats...because my sister was named Kitty, and we both look like felines. My parents chose our names using the earth word for our ancestors the Cat...thus we became Kitty and Kats Lucas.

Heh, that seems to be taking the obvious way out. Is Lucas a family name?
