Meta: FanLib Dicsussion III; or The Search for FanLib

May 19, 2007 12:20

As I said in my last FanLib meta post, after inviting me to begin a dialog, FanLib's CEO Chris Williams then explained that he was too busy to answer any of my questions or those raised by the people who replied to my post.

Fair enough, the guy's trying to run a business and I'm just one person among many who have been posting about this issue, plus I'm pretty verbose. I did try to come up with ways he could continue the dialog here on LJ so that the LJ portion of the fan fiction community could join in; I raised the possibility that he could answer our FAQ concerns a question at a time, either in reply to my post or from his own journal or even in a Lj community created for that purpose. I've yet to receive an answer from him and by now, I honestly don't expect to.

However, over on the FanLib forums David W.--who I assume is David Williams, FanLib's Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer--is answering questions. I do still hope that the discussion can happen here on LJ, however, for the moment, it doesn't look like that is happening, so if you have more questions, it looks like that's the place to do it.

Someone replied to one of my posts suggesting that we not link to FanLib in order to deny them hits. While I understand that idea and it has merit, in this case, I think that the benefits of discussing our concerns outweigh the cost of providing them with hits.
