Quick check in post - lost power from about 11ish (I can't remember, I've slept since then) until around 6:00 (I know, it came back on while the storm was still pounding us - go figure), so I went to bed. Just got up. Getting all the various checks done and so far, the only problem in my life is that the cable's out and the cell phone towers are ( Read more... )

Believe me, I'll be checking out the Chocolate Bar ASAP! :-)

So far, everyone I know has made it through okay. No power, adn in one case, no water, but okay. :-)

Hurricanes should all come with chocolate. Like nice hotels do on the pillow. The last hour of rain should include little chocolates falling from the sky, I think.

I didn't make it over to the Chocolate Bar, there was a tree in the way. :-)

But we'll get there soon. Based on what I did see today, my part of this disaster fared well.

Bolivar is a peninsula that's "part" of Galveston.

They didn't have a sea wall.

And the kid doesn't have school on Monday while the district evaluates the situation.

Of course, if they don't have power, I doubt they'll be opening the schools.
