We Live!

Quick check in post - lost power from about 11ish (I can't remember, I've slept since then) until around 6:00 (I know, it came back on while the storm was still pounding us - go figure), so I went to bed. Just got up. Getting all the various checks done and so far, the only problem in my life is that the cable's out and the cell phone towers are ( Read more... )

Great to hear from you! We are getting a lot of wind right now. We haven't had much rain, but I have a feeling that will be coming soon, as the storm is getting closer to our area.

Oh joy! The lights just blinked! *crosses finger that the electricity doesn't go out*

Good luck on that!

99% of the area is without power down here.

24 hours will see most of them get power back, but it could be weeks for some of the rest.

You seem to have come through well! I'm so glad! I'm sure you'll still have cleanup and related hassles, but I'm relieved you're okay.

No clean up for me!

Though I may be ferrying water to my folks for a while. They have no power *and* have a well.

Good to hear that you're OK! Thanks for checking in letting us know what's going on. Hope the clear-up isn't too horrendous and that you get cell/cable back soon.

I figure it's going to be a while until most of the power is back on in the region.

So if you sleep through the lack of internet does that still count as deprivation? ;-)

Good to know only the shrubbery took a beating.

LOL!!!!!

There's other damage around the city, but it's apparently not even as bad as Alicia in the 80s.

Yeah, I've been checking out the regular sources from south of the border. Lots of damage but nowhere near as bad as it might have been. Which is a very good thing.

We just took a drive around the neighborhood to check on friends and then out to my kid's school. So far, we only saw one house damaged and that had a tree on it. Lots of branches down, a bunch of trees in need of repair. A few on the roads (had to go the wrong way on a street for a half block to get around that one). The bayous didn't even get close to leaving their banks (very good thing).
