I was going to write about helping at the Oromocto SPCA yesterday when cats, dogs, degus, gerbils, bearded dragon and birds (big and not so big) came through the shelter but I'm pretty tired and I have to go get my snow tires on so maybe later.
Arrived home last Wednesday after a great week with Angela in Calgary. Her surgery went well and she is recovering as expected. We had the worst and longest thunder and lightening storm after I got home. Lightening hit a tree on the back of my property and brought it down. It just missed my balcony and my house. On Sunday as I was eating lunch with friends at Minglers I got a phone call from Tracy (SPCA). Could I foster a chihuahua? Of course I said yes. Picked her up after I finished lunch. Named her Chiclet. Vet visit yesterday and she weighed a whopping 3.7 lbs on the baby scales. She was also housebroken which was good as I am looking after Fay

House is almost overflowing with animals. A friend of mine had a marriage break-up and is in the process of moving by herself so asked me if I would look after her dog for a week or so. Peanut (her dog) has been here before so I'm helping her out by looking after Peanut

Pappion dog that I fostered is now living in Fredericton with her new dads. Her name is Molly. Last Thursday I got a phone call asking if I would foster small white shaggy dog with 3 - 4 week old pups. Of course I said yes. They were delivered here Friday morning. Two boys and one girl. All animals in the seizure of 52 have been signed over to the Oromocto SPCA. I got a phone call this morning to say my little foster is scheduled to have her spay Friday morning. I can bring her home overnight but on Saturday she is ready for adoption. Over 60 names on the list looking for small dogs.
Sassy finally went back to the SPCA on Tuesday, April 9 and had a "pending adoption" on Wednesday and went to her new home on Thursday, April 11. Her new mom bought her a doggy sweater and declared her "an amazing dog

Sassy has now had her surgery and recovered from that and had her staples (not stitches) removed and it was decided that she is allergic to the food that the SPCA provided. Now she is on a strict diet of food that is for dogs that are allergic. Still here

Yay! Survived the "Storm of the Century". Dogs were not impressed with the snow on the back deck. Had to resort to the front deck until I cleared enough of the back deck for certain dogs to use. Friend Clyde came over last evening and cleaned the back deck so dogs are happy again.
Today is sunny and bright and not cold. What a change!
