[Sitting with the sketchbook balanced on her knees, it's actually a relief to hear a friendly voice. The smile she gives Archie is embarrassed and a little tired, but still a smile]
Like I've been tugged around in emotional circles for a week.
[shaking her head] But at least I wasn't the one dealing with the lot of us the whole time.
[He settles to sit down beside her.] Terrible. But on the mend, I think. [A little smile.] Beyond being influenced by that damned fruit, I made less of a fool of myself than I could have. But only just.
[a small groan, reaching up to rub her temples with one hand] I think I have you beat for playing the fool. And that's without the involvement of fruit of any kind.
[ a troubled-looking young woman is making her own rounds of the village after a confusing morning in good spirits. perhaps distracted enough for a bump-into or occupied enough to not realize she is being drawn. ]

[Jilly's looking more distracted than usual, herself. Normally a bundle of cheerful energy, she's feeling a bit stretched thin, realizing just how crazy she'd been for the past week.
Stepping out of one of the shops, she's nearly drops the supplies she's carrying when she steps straight into the blonde girl's path.]

[crisis averted, she manages a quick smile, shaking her head] Honestly, I think I might prefer being beyond the clouds to here, today. I think it's going around.
[Jack has spent the better part of the morning missing Jilly. Feeling worried about Jilly. Wondering what Jilly is thinking, and whether she misses him, or whether she is upset and never wants to see him again. He has paced a fair trench into the floor of Cullen House and finally turns his restless steps to town. After dreaming of her for an entire week he can't free his brain of her; and he's not sure he wants to. He's not sure of anything anymore.
When he does spot the artist seated by the edge of the plaza, he doesn't approach immediately.]

[she's distracted enough that she doesn't notice him at first. There's a kind of soothing feeling that comes from putting lines to paper, capturing the scenes unfolding in front of her. She always walked this line, torn between the observer and the exuberant participant, but today she's content to just sit back and watch.
Eventually, though, she has to look back up at her subject to double check the image forming on the page... and that's when she sees Jack.
After a week of wanting nothing more than to see his face, she can hardly miss him now.
There's a lurch of something akin to panic, a cold ball of fear that settles uncomfortably in her stomach, but she takes a deep breath. Lets it out. And, when she thinks she might be steady enough to face whatever fallout remains from their whirlwind romance, she raises a hand in greeting]

Jack...
[there are any number of emotions twisting her about right now, but anger isn't one of them. She's not sure she's ready to see him, but as that option's been taken away, she won't turn him away, either]
...hi.
[she wanted to ask if he was alright, or if he wanted the ring back, or if talking was even just an option, but those all seemed to heavy. Much too heavy to start. So she dodges, giving him a subdued smile to mask the uncertainty] I shouldn't be surprised, but I still am amazed that the fountain is back to normal so quickly.
[because the fountain is totally what was on her mind]

[Ami spends a lot of time out and about these days, sometimes with errands to do and sometimes fabricating a few. She stays a polite distance away, but she can't help watching the deft pencil strokes as Jilly works - and more, she can't help wondering if her father is sitting somewhere doing exactly the same thing, right this moment.

[it's easy to get lost in the motion...but in order to sketch she also needs to observe. So after a minute or so of careful lines, the artist will look up to check her work. Catching sight of Ami, there's no embarrassment. Just a quick smile of acknowledgment]
[Action]tehoniongirlFebruary 22 2011, 00:35:24 UTC
Of course! [leaning back, she'll shift the book so that Ami can get a better look at the page.
The sketches are loose, mostly broad sweeps to catch images in motion. But scattered throughout the rougher guidelines, she's begun to detail the ones that caught her attention the most (or maybe just the subjects who lingered long enough for her to study), fine tuning the details into recognizable faces and figures]

Oh... god. I'm sorry!

[ she reaches out to steady the other girl on instinct. ] My head's somewhere way beyond clouds, today. Sorry.

Fine. It's nothing new, after all.

I guess I'm just counting blessings that it's not permanent.
