Life is Beautiful made me cry soooooooo hard. And I just saw Schindler's List for the first time today and wanted to throw up the entire time.

Movies I love that I would consider critically good:

ooo i haven't seen some of these (e tu mama tambien, wristcutters, chinatown (i know i know), before sunrise). BRB netflix queue.

the graduate, departed, and pulp fiction were all movies I considered and ended up cutting up cuz they seemed (for me) to be just short of the level of the other movies. but they are fantastic. i've prob seen the departed like, 15 times, idek.

I think The Graduate and Pulp Fiction are both totally on the same level... Pulp Fiction especially. I think it's Tarantino's best film, the writing and direction (and acting) is all amazing. The Departed is more questionable, I guess, but I find it an amazing film... gripping from start to finish, amazing pacing, acting, and dialogue, and so suspenseful-- I almost pissed myself during the Jack Nicholson scene with Leo, omg. I own it on DVD and have seen it a billion times.

Oh, and I didn't include it but Dog Day Afternoon is really really good too.

Also, I watched TWO FOR THE ROAD in a film class my freshman year and thought it was amaaazing. I don't know if most people even know it, though? Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney... so much love.

Best love story: The Notebook

Best action/cinematography/use of unreliable narrator: Hero

(one of the) Best animated: Princess Mononoke (it's less cheesy than the English voiceover makes it seem :|)

Made me cry like a child, and I couldn't even watch the preview again without bawling: Hotel Rwanda
