let's celebrate christmas even though i'm such a pagan-aethiest-antichrist that i hate everything that has to do with christianity except for HAVING to go to church on christmas, the only time i go all year... but just as long as i get presents i'll celebrate the birth of JC which represents my sins being forgiven so i can spend eternity in heaven ( Read more... )

what if someones beliefs in christianity don't match the rest of their family, yet they go through the motions so to not make waves within the people they genuinely care about, and their opinion of that person?

Yeah, I HAD to go to church on christmas, and that was the only day I went (maybe an easter or two thrown in there), but when I got "old enough" by whatever my parent's standards were, I respectfully declined. I respect that all of it works for the people that it does, but it doesn't for me. But because I love my family and being with them around the holidays, its not like I'm going to boycott the whole celebration of christmas because I dont necessarily share the same beliefs in religion as they do.

p.s. the modern christmas is a fusion of the pagan and christian celebrations. its not completely christian.
