O the stupid!

This is why I hate having to be on the customer side of a help desk transaction.

I have a little HP all in one printer at home.  I bought it last November, it never seemed to work properly but I didn't ask much of it so I wasn't too concerned.  Then it stopped working all together.  Computer couldn't find it with the USB cable or on the wireless ( Read more... )

Out of curiosity, have you read Queen of Wands, specifically Kestrel's adventures to similar stores?

I feel for you though. I've had similar stupidity from the same store. I asked once where the wireless network cards were and the guy directed me to video cards... when I told him these were in fact video cards, he suggested I get a Mac. *eye twitches* I now refuse to shop at said chain for anything other than the occasional DVD that I can't find anywhere else.

No, I haven't heard of that. Can you point me to a link? Sounds like something I would appreciate.

I generally have had pretty good experiences at Big Yellow, surprisingly enough. But jeez... I stood there last night and looked at the printer cord and realized what they'd done and I almost lost it. There was a couple being helped next to me and when they were done (and I was still sitting there) she came over and said she was amazed at the stupidity. Not sure who to blame but it doesn't really matter, does it?

Nother sigh.

Maybe I've jsut been lucky, but those 99 dollar printer/scanner/copier/fax HPs have always worked really nicely for me.

We've had an OfficeJet at the house for like, 3497340760862 years and it's never given a peep of trouble.

Except the drivers SUCK. But never mind that now.

heh. that "can't open another box" policy is so inane.

once years ago i bought a stereo system with everything in one fairly compact unit, plus speakers (4) and remote control. when the cd turntable ate my CD the second day i had it, i took the unit back to the store and they wouldn't open another box and swap it out for me. if i'd brought the ENTIRE set in, they'd have given me a different set, but it was unwieldy with 3 flights of stairs and snow on the ground. so i left the central unit with them for "repair"... when the 30-day return period was about to expire and i still didn't have it back, i boxed up the remains and returned them for a full refund, then went and bought a similar stereo at another store.

a couple of months later, i got a call from the original store saying my stereo was repaired and available for pickup. you know, the one i no longer owned? i was tempted to pick it up and sell it to someone who already had speakers. teh stoopid hurts. make it stop.

Does it not use standard PC power cable? If so, do you not have enough of them lying around to wire a small city for power?

No, it doesn't use a standard cable. That would be too easy.

I just take them off of the display models. Almost all HP ones are interchangeable now.
