I just read the entire briefing.

You know what REALLY gets me? Cheney's CoS is named SCOOTER LIBBY.

Sounds like a fucking Disney Saturday Morning character. "Scooter Libby and the Catastrophe Kids" or something. Good googily moogily, and this is one pretzel away from the presidency...

Actually, did you see that Cheney's obituary was posted on MSNBC? He apparently died in May. That's why we never see him.

*head explodes*

on a tangential topic, why is military service so important to politicians? do they honestly believe that if you've fought for your country, it somehow makes you a better person? that because you've subjected yourself to the possibility of being killed and gay trysts, you have the right to rule the nation?

In the US, I would assume it's seen as an asset since the Pres is Commander in Chief, and perhaps people believe that you'd do a better job leading others if you've been in their position.

Presidents who've had military service are not trigger quick to enter into war. When they do, they do so with an understanding of the logistics and respect for military advisors. It's not necessary, since Clinton was very careful on which conflicts had U.S. participation; however, military service is not something to be disregarded and disrespected as if it does not contribute positively to a presidency.

Gay trysts never hurt.

i love to point out that thomas jefferson never did any military service, and i think he was a darned good president even if he could have been less racist.

This is hilarious.

But it's just what this White House does. Bastards.

At least the journos are starting to stand up to them.

Ugh, I hate that. The spin I seem to be seeing a lot lately is that when people question where he was those years, that they are questioning his patriotism. Um, no, it is more like questioning his ability to tell the truth.

I was watching CNN this morning and they had a liberal guy and a conservative guy. The conservative guy was highly offended that the liberal guy had the gall to question the president's patriotism (which was not what he was doing, but anyway), and he said that it was totally irrelevant and he didn't see why people cared so much when Bush clearly loves America. But he said we absolutely had to investigate why John Kerry appeared in the background of a photo of Jane Fonda at a peace rally during the Vietnam War. I am not a Kerry fan at all, but this is just ridiculous.
