I'm supposed to be writing my second thesis chapter right now, but I keep refreshing the election results to see what's up. The Democrats won the Ohio governor's race and picked up a Senate seat, and it looks like the Dems have taken the House--that's hot. Huzzah.

I really don't understand American politics, even though I wan to... is it a vote going on right now? For what purpose?

It's a midterm election--unfortunately, we weren't voting for a new president. Because of the way Congress is set up, some of the representatives' terms have run out, and so we were electing replacements. There isn't acutally a on the number of terms a Congressweasel can serve, though, so usually they just get re-elected and go right on with their business.

Except this year. XD Looks like most of the country has picked up on the fact that we really suck right now, and that's not good.

I'm pleased that the Democrats have retaken the House and made some good gains in the Senate. (Even though Vermont elected a Socialist as our senator :-p)

My roommate almost made me die last night when he said that it was probably a good direction for the country, moving to a more liberal government - he's a very conservative republican.

Go figure.
