Everything had changed in Lubbock. Ethan said they were no longer keeping things quiet and he meant it. Not only did he introduce her to his family, he introduced her as his girlfriend. Stretching his legs out, he hadn't actually meant to eavesdrop. Not really. He'd just ended up stopping in a remote area and stretching out catching the tail end of someone talking before he realised that it wasn't someone talking to someone else, it was someone talking to themselves -or more importantly having a little heart to heart with their faith.

He's a little busy getting himself back on his feet, pretty much ready to turn around and walk away once he knows he didn't actually hurt her with his stupidity but there's something that actually clicks like his brain just fired up. As soon as he says her name, her face first goes white then gradually her cheeks glow pink. She couldn't quite remember his name but apparently hers was unforgettable. How embarrassing. "I am so so sorry. I... oh jeez..." Covering her face with her hands. Not only was a flood of medicated memories streaming in to remind her of why she should be embarrassed but it finally occurred to her that he probably heard her little talk with God. At least he already knew most of it. In her drugged state she literally poured her heart out over the phone. At the time it was liberating to have a stranger to talk to. Now it was just humiliating.
"Is there any possible way that you can just forget everything I told you or what you may have overheard?"

Her bottom lip trembled so she bit it to make it stop. She wasn't exactly sure of their friend status either. He seemed nice and even flirty but she got the feeling he was flirty with everyone so that might not mean much. "I know you heard enough and you can feel the rest. Please don't tell anyone, Roy. I know I could have been more discreet out here but praying helps me and I feels more natural when it's a conversation."
