Forgive Me, Father... *OTA; Easedroppers Welcome*

Everything had changed in Lubbock. Ethan said they were no longer keeping things quiet and he meant it. Not only did he introduce her to his family, he introduced her as his girlfriend. They didn't sneak. They didn't hide and it was incredible. Even on the plane back, they held hands, kissed in public, and did their best not to make a spectacle but ( Read more... )

Taking a jog around the camp was actually sort of boring. It wasn't really a big place. Which meant running the same route about four times before the muscle fatiuge started to set in and Jane started to feel like he'd actually given himself a decent work out.

Stretching his legs out, he hadn't actually meant to eavesdrop. Not really. He'd just ended up stopping in a remote area and stretching out catching the tail end of someone talking before he realised that it wasn't someone talking to someone else, it was someone talking to themselves -or more importantly having a little heart to heart with their faith.

Shit.

He was mid-way towards fleeing when he walked the wrong way and practically fell over the redhead. "Oh, shi- I'm sorry." Walking space case, check. Some mornings his brain just didn't bother getting up with him.

Catching her off-guard, Angel wasn't able to get out of his way but she was able to curl up in fetal position real quickly so she took his foot to her back and not her ribs. She was just so startled at first about almost being trampled it didn't occur to her to be embarrassed that she could have been overheard.

"Where did you come from?!" She cried as she scrambled to her knees. Without thinking, she brushed away the tears and just stared. He didn't look familiar but there was something she couldn't put her finger on. "Are...are you on the team?"

"Back there," sprawled on his ass really isn't the best impression to make, least of all when you've nearly kicked someone in the stomach. "Was just walking, walked the wrong way. I am so sorry. Did I hurt you?"

He's a little busy getting himself back on his feet, pretty much ready to turn around and walk away once he knows he didn't actually hurt her with his stupidity but there's something that actually clicks like his brain just fired up. "Um yeah, I-" he snaps his fingers just as it clicks for him, "Angel right? From the phone. Little bit loopy on the meds?"

Giving herself a quick check, Angel shook her head. "I'm not hurt. Are you? You're the one that fell."

As soon as he says her name, her face first goes white then gradually her cheeks glow pink. She couldn't quite remember his name but apparently hers was unforgettable. How embarrassing. "I am so so sorry. I... oh jeez..." Covering her face with her hands. Not only was a flood of medicated memories streaming in to remind her of why she should be embarrassed but it finally occurred to her that he probably heard her little talk with God. At least he already knew most of it. In her drugged state she literally poured her heart out over the phone. At the time it was liberating to have a stranger to talk to. Now it was just humiliating.

"Is there any possible way that you can just forget everything I told you or what you may have overheard?"

For a moment, Angel grew quiet as if searching herself for any sign of divine relief but all she felt was shame, confusion, and despair choking out the joy she felt at seeing Vance again and the excitement of her budding relationship with Ethan. After a minute of waiting, she started to cry. She knew that asking didn't always mean receiving. At least not in the way you might want. If God didn't respond right away there was something he wanted her to learn. Probably patience. She was never particularly patient ( ... )

She had the feeling he heard more than that just by the way he reacted to getting caught. What's worst was that she knew Roy was an empath. Even if he didn't mean to snoop, he would feel what she was feeling. It was hard to put on a brave face and smile when the other person could feel that you were full of crap.

Her bottom lip trembled so she bit it to make it stop. She wasn't exactly sure of their friend status either. He seemed nice and even flirty but she got the feeling he was flirty with everyone so that might not mean much. "I know you heard enough and you can feel the rest. Please don't tell anyone, Roy. I know I could have been more discreet out here but praying helps me and I feels more natural when it's a conversation."
