Getting an escort into base wasn't a huge issue for Alison. She got a pretty decent conversation out of it. Asking the right questions got her the information she needed; large team, mostly mutants but not all, generally quiet but with the occasional 'mission'. She wasn't sure what that would mean, Ali had vague memories of battles in space, an ( Read more... )

Ethan had been anticipating Blaire's arrival in camp and had been notified that her transport had arrived in camp, without any issues at all, which is always a nice thing to hear. Especially when you start to learn to prepare yourself for the worst about anyone new arriving in camp.

Waiting outside the main office Ethan with Emma, he spots Dazzler as she approaches and straightens his Military uniform jacket as he stands straight and tall. With a glance to Emma, he mentally (and loudly) sighs, he doesn't even keep from broadcasting his disdain that Emma had to be here as well. It's like High School all over again with the popular people vying to get the attention of the new student. Why she decided to be here as well and greet the newest member of the team was above him as usually that task was left to him.

"Miss Blaire I take it? Welcome to Fort Wenachee, I am Captain Sykes the Military representation and co-leader of this camp." Of course Ethan is going to use the term Miss just to piss Emma off as she hates the use of her surname ( ... )

Frankly, Emma was just being awkward. She'd gotten just a little bored, maybe, and sort of wanted to be there. She'd heard that Dazzler was their newest recruit and that itself had sparked an interest -she worked in New York from time to time, she knew about Alison 'Dazzler' Blaire, she'd even admit to attending a concert or two.

Not to mention Pierce's attempts to recruit the singer to the Hellfire Club and the massive failure that had been. Ignoring Ethan's sigh, rolling her eyes at his ridiculous dress uniform -because honestly, she never put hers on, it was disgustingly shapeless and she'd rather be seen in last season D&G, Emma let Ethan start the introductions with a small smirk.

"That would be Miss Frost, if you don't mind." Of course she was nothing but warm with Dazzler. "Captain Sykes and I would like to give you the tour of the camp and answer any questions you might have." What Emma was trying to figure out, was why Dazzler wasn't still with the deplorably annoying X-Men.

It was a little bit intimidating, just a tad. But that was cool, she could roll. If they wanted to do a meet and greet, she should've figured. She shook both hands as offered, glancing between them as she picked up a vibe. She just wasn't sure what it was.

"Please, Ali or Dazzler, if you could." It might've been asking a lot, but she hated going by anything other than those names. If they had to, they could fire out an 'Alison' and she'd respond, but 'Miss' anything made her think she was back in private school or University.

"Oh, well, sure, that'd be good." Get the skinny from the minnies. Naturally they were the best to give her the run down. She sort of wondered how it worked with both of them leading things.

Handing over the welcome pack that everyone is given upon their arrival in camp Ethan starts to lead the tour, ever hopeful that Emma will simply follow his lead and not try to take over too much. Like she does, with everything else in camp. He'll offer a tight smile to Emma before focusing his attention back on Blaire.

"As a rule I tend to call everyone by their surname, it's military protocol but I'll endeavor to try and remember your preference." Ethan heads towards the housing dorms. "You've been assigned room 109 on the first floor of Lincoln House, inside your pack you'll find your identity card, pass keys and a list of important information regarding timings around the camp. Also enclosed is your personal Physical Training Schedule, which you'll be expected to start as of tomorrow."

Opening the door he allows Dazzler and Emma to enter first. "Each floor has one assigned leader located in room zero-one as well as either myself or Miss Frost residing in the building. Lincoln House is the responsibility of Miss Frost." Ethan ( ... )

Jubilee had been wandering around the base in her yellow trenchcoat (mostly just to piss off Barq) over her military clothes when she caught sight of the blonde's arrival. As her mind flashed back to the day in the mall when she followed the X-Men through Gateway's portal, she stopped in her tracks.

This woman was one of them.

Gawking for a moment, she shook it off and ran up to Dazzler, studying her curiously.

Having been given her tour, and gotten her package and new clothes, Alison was just taking her time in wandering the base. She wasn't surprised that there a few people here and there.

She hadn't changed yet, hadn't even gone back to her room since she ditched her stuff there. But maybe meeting enough of the team was a good idea already. The yellow trenchcoat was fairly eye catching on its own, something that shouldn't work but almost definitely did. The young girl attached to the coat, that was something that made Dazzler pause. She looked almost familiar, but nothing that Ali could place, which frustrated her.

"Hey there," there was no harm in being friendly, and Ali was almost always friendly anyway, "this me finally getting the non-military issue welcome?"

"Pfft, like there's such a thing in this hellhole." Jubilee scoffed, rolling her eyes and folding her arms across her chest before circling the blonde curiously. She was beginning to wonder if this woman was from a different dimension, too, like the others -- who, aside from Psylocke and Boom-Boom, had never heard of Wolverine -- or if she was from the same place as Jubilee, where Wolverine existed and Genosha was under Magneto's control.

"You're one of the X-Men, right?"

It just made Alison smile, the military thing didn't really bother her. So long as they weren't expecting her to carry arms and go to war with some neighbouring country or something.

"I was, yeah. I'm not sure what I am now." She remembered that much, she wasn't sure how she'd gotten from Australia back to the States, but beyond that, she knew pieces. The X-Men, Xavier, fights with the Brotherhood, the Hellfire Club being bad. Alison had snippets of a life she didn't recognise. "Are you? An X-Man I mean."

Have fanboy Ric. What could be more endearing? XD movetheearth May 18 2011, 09:40:16 UTC
Ric had already watched Emma and the Captain wander past with the newcomer once, he'd been outside Lincoln House smoking in the sheltered area between the two housing buildings, but he hadn't interrupted then to introduce himself. Instead he'd watched from afar, noting that the newcomer seemed confident and at ease around Emma and the Captain.

He thought he recognized her and it was only when they wandered back out of Lincoln House and on the rest of the tour that it hit him. That was Dazzler!! Ric was a huge fan, he'd liked her music and had been saddened when her career had ended and suddenly she'd gone from star to backing singer for Lila Cheney. He didn't know the finer details, he was a fan not a stalker, but she'd gone silent for a while before suddenly returning as Lila Cheney's backing singer ( ... )

Confident and at ease was something Dazzler managed well. Missing parts of the past meant meeting people twice and frankly, she only got through it all by keeping her head up and her wills solid. Besides, Frost and Sykes seemed okay enough; no evil empire in the wings, no world domination plans, no superiority spiel. It was refreshingly blunt.

At least everyone was friendly, at the approach of the Mexican, Alison smiled. Being recognised wasn't new, and the ease of charm was nice, "Hey, yeah. Reputation precedes me then?" She could handle notoriety, it came with the territory of pop stardom, but it wasn't always 'awesome' to meet her. "It's awesome to meet you too, Ric. And please, call me Ali."

Holding out his hand he shakes Ali's gently, before bringing it up to press a kiss to the back of her hand. "Sorta I guess. I mean...I was, well I am a fan of your music, though I preferred it when you were center stage and not Lila." Had they been meeting back before the days of TeamX Ric might have been a little more excitable and fanboy, but thankfully he's keeping himself in check.

"So what brings you to the team? Did the Captain and Emma decide that they wanted someone famous to add to the mix? Or are we starting up a pop band and I didn't get the memo?" He'll lean back against the wall, trying to act casual but he is genuinely interested now because this was not a move he would have predicted of Emma or the Captain.

She couldn't hold back the laugh at his comment, so she didn't try. "I'm not sure about the pop band thing, but you never know." It was flattering, his comments, but it did remind her a little of just where she was at and where she'd wanted to be and what had caused it.

"You're a sweetheart, thanks. Working with Lila was," hard? Going from centre stage to back up was soul crushing, it was meant to work the other way around, but there it was, and nothing could've stopped it, "different, but careers are unpredictable like that."

Especially when the world frowns at honesty. "I signed up to help out, your country needs you and everything, right? Only this time, it's mutants. I can get down with any good cause." Because there were questions and no answers, and maybe this would all help out.

Having really nothing else better to do at the moment, Atticus had taken to coming out to see the newest recruit. It was like they were building into an army now, rather than a team. And it was no joking matter, anyone with a mind could see that.

But just like almost every other recruit that had come through, this young lady did not look like she belonged there. Wasn't that always the case? One would come through looking as though they'd merely wandered off the wrong bus that'd been headed for Grandma's house, the other, fresh from the sanitarium. At least she didn't look like she had come from the latter.

After waiting for the military escorts to leave her to her own free regin, Atticus moved to fall into step with Alison. "Excuse me for seeming bold, but, you're far too shiny to look like you've come here on purpose."

discoballdiva May 18 2011, 18:19:45 UTC
Bold, well, that wasn't an issue for her. She just smiled, glad that he matched her pace and listened. "Shiny," she couldn't help but laugh, setting off little stars of colour and light around her head for fun, "you have no idea."

She hadn't really shown off the light effects since she stopped performing, since she went from start to known mutant in the space on one interview and crashed from the podium they placed her on. Like suddenly her music had changed.

"But I can assure you, I am where I'm meant to be. For the moment anyway." Her contract was free for amendment at any time, apparently, which suited her just nicely. "I'm Alison."

Well, she was confident, that was something. Atticus would give her that. "Let's hope so." It wasn't meant to be a threat or anything of the sort. But he had seen more than one come in here with the full capacity of thinking they knew what was going on here--and then finding out they were completely wrong.

Himself included. "A pleasure to meet you, Alison. I'm Atticus."

Confidence came with the stage persona, and Dazzler had always loved the stage. It was just a natural addition to her personality. She didn't take the comment as a threat, more like a consideration, like he knew something she didn't.

Which was entirely possible.

"Pleasure," Alison's smile was genuine, something she never really had to fake, "were your parents literary scholars or just fond of books? Or is there a whole other reason for the name?"

"Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in." Betsy replied teasingly as she sauntered over to the blonde. FINALLY, someone from this dimension that knew her. Allie didn't just know her. Allie killed her. Well, nearly killed her. Shot a brainwashed Betsy in the face forcing her to leave her original British body that the Sisterhood restored and return to her Asian form. She would rather be dead than be controlled by someone else. Allison proved herself to be a true friend by taking her out.

Now she was here, on the base, and if she was in fact joining the team, Betsy couldn't be more thrilled. She trusted Allison as much as she could trust anyone. There might actually be hope for this team yet. "I knew you couldn't live without me."

"Bets?" The last memory Dazzler had of one Elisabeth Braddock was shooting her in the face. Potentially a relationship killer, but Dazzler knew Psylocke, and whatever the Sisterhood had been turning Elisabeth into, it was not Psylocke.

With a grin, Dazzler didn't hold herself back, "Are you kidding me, like I'd even try!" It was a surprise, yes, but a pleasant one. Someone who actually knew what Dazzler was about, who had been there and fought with her and might possibly have some answers for all these gaps in her memories. "My God you're a sight for sore eyes."

And Dazzler didn't care, she closed the distance to wrap her arms around Elisabeth's neck in a hug.

"I'm a gift for any eyes, pet." A grin formed as Betsy slid her arms around Allison's waist and hugged her tightly. "And may I say you are looking quite fit yourself." She used her dirty voice and laughed.

Knocking a kiss on the other woman's cheek, Betsy pulled back to get a look at her. Time has always been Dazzler's friend. She looked every bit as young as Betsy only Betsy had to hop bodies to do it. "It's been too long. God, nearly 2 years. What have you been up to?"

Reply

discoballdiva May 31 2011, 19:44:34 UTC
Two years, holy shit that was a long time. "Wow, that is," not what she remembers. "I've been here and there, not a lot going on." She'd gone back to Lila because nothing else had made sense, and even when things started to fall into place, she still hadn't worked up the courage to go back to the X-Men.

"And you? All back to normal? Everything where it got moved to and supposed to be?" Alison wasn't sure if Elisabeth wanted her original body back, or if she'd grown used to or fond of the Asian body she'd been left with. Truthfully, Alison was simply pleased to see any rendition of Betsy.
