The observation reports were in and  the higher ups, including General Stone, were not happy. The team was showing a dismal result in the ability to work together as a cohesive unit. From the attack on the camp, when very few had used the advantages other abilities, to the rescue of Captain Sykes, where the mutant known as Pyro had been shot by one ( Read more... )

Some genius had given Ric the role of the Team Leader for the Capture the Flag game that they were being encouraged to participate in. The Mexican was genuinely bemused as to why he'd been given the task of leader when they had the likes of the Captain on their team but who was he to question logic?

With their team specifics outlined and the team flag in hand Ric stood on an overturned log, dressed in full cammo with face paint on and grinning like an idiot. Which was no real surprise. Clearing his throat Ric waited till everyone had fallen reasonably quiet before starting his rousing speech. "We are Team A! A stands for Alpha, for awesome, for almighty and other A related words! As your leader I promise to be fair, to be wise and to also admit that I've not got a clue what the hell we should do so I'm delegating to you lot. Anyone got any suggestions because the other team have Martini and that means we're screwed! Seriously. Like I wonder if we should forfeit now or something?"

So much for a team speech...

Haylie had been hanging back near Sykes, stretching out her muscles and keeping a wary eye on Daken because she was convinced that after their last encounter, he'd be itching to exact his revenge. While she was relatively certain he wouldn't be stupid enough to do it in front of Sykes and well, witnesses, she wasn't going to let her guard down either.

While Ric had decided to dress like an idiot, Haylie stuck to her military-issued brown tank top and a pair of denim shorts that she'd retrieved from lock-up for such an occasion as this. Bending over, she grabbed her ankle through her stretch, thankful that she hadn't lost her flexibility over the years. Ric's words caused her to snort and she couldn't help but roll her eyes as she straightened and pulled her hair up into a ponytail.

"No offense, chico, but y'can't really be screwed and awesome at the same time. That's what y'call mutually exclusive ( ... )

The sound of very slow and sarcastic clapping could be heard. Daken, with patches of still newly healed skin, was already in a foul mood when he found out he was on the team with most of the people who hated him. Coupling to the fact was that a damn spic who didn't know his head from his ass was the one being put in charge had left the feral mutant with the great and passionate desire for homicide ( ... )

Adrian had been hanging towards the back of the group, having realised that Daken was on his team he was already fearful that the other mutant would take this as an opportunity to kill him and hide the body.

Finally dressed in a military uniform Adrian pulls his hood up as he walks closer to Ric on his log, laughing at the so-called speech, he hadn't really seen him as a level-headed leader for the game.

He doesn't put any of his own ideas forward but when Daken starts speaking along with pulling out his claws Adrian is already on edge so that the moment the power goes out he sends himself floating a few feet above everyone else due to frayed nerves.

"Could we, uh, just get this going? If Daken is right then we're probably going to end up swarmed by the opposition in a few minuted and if we move quickly now we can get out of their immediate path."

Considering how the teams could have ended up divided John really couldn't complain, sure they'd gotten Martini on their side but that was less of an issue. As long as someone kept him from being distracted by the Mexican, Rogue or Ophelia and were able to keep him on side... well a time manipulating mutant was like a trump card.

Seeing as John couldn't teleport and simply steal the oppositions flag he'd volunteered to guard theirs instead. I mean who'd want to steal a flag when there's a risk you're gonna end up teleported across camp and left feeling all out of sorts. See kinds, even John can play dirty if he needs to.

It's not when John would call the most complex of games to play but the fact that there is something for everyone to do is good. AND he's not the one in charge for a change which is even better. Means he can sit back and watch someone else deal with the 'kids' and their antics.
