The power was out. In a place like this, the power wouldn't just go out without good reason. And even then? There'd be a back-up generator for occasions like this. Which meant that something was seriously wrong. Haylie was having another bout of insomnia due to energy build-up once again, which meant she was awake and doing push-ups on the floor of

"Hughes, right?"

"Yep, Hughes. And you are..." She wanted to at least know the name of the woman. It couldn't hurt to stick close to her, if she could inflict that kind of damage on a wall. Yet another mutant with more interesting powers.

Flexing her fingers, she took a moment to roll her shoulders and stretch out her muscles because she knew she was going to have to put her years of gymnastics training to use. And they had to wait for Dane to get up, because Haylie wasn't leaving anyone behind to get killed. Besides, she didn't know what the two girls were capable of and there was a chance that it would come in handy.
Keeping her voice low, she looked at Olivia. "What can you do?"

Flicking her wrist, Haylie sent one of the operatives flying through a wall as she called out. Skidding across the floor in her bare feet, she didn't bother stopping to check around corners for any more danger because she was just too damn focused on finding Spencer. And she'd been praying to God that he wasn't the one who'd been shot.
However, the sight of his door having been kicked in and the numerous signs of electrical outbursts crushed those hopes. The bodies on the floor only added to her panic and when her eyes fell upon Spencer's body and the blood beginning to pool beneath him, she went white.
"Spencer!" Haylie screamed - she never let her emotions get this much control over her to allow an outburst like this - and felt the strange burn of tears in her eyes as she fell to her knees and carefully rolled Spencer onto his back.
"Oh God. Spencer..."

"I- hmm," the pain in his gut was steadily growing and he had to wonder if this was it, because that was what went through your mind when you got shot, wasn't it? Logically, he was aware that it was a fairly unobtrusive shot; nothing vital in the area, probably busted his stomach or intestines or something, no blood in his mouth meant his lungs were free and clear, so really, it was just the pain. Oh, and the blood loss. "I got shot."
It's the only thing that popped to his mind, looking up at Haylie with a dazed, pain filled expression. He was only meant to be a public relations on the base, he was only meant to sharpen up with his skills and write about the mutants helping the Government. He wasn't meant to get shot.
"It really hurts a lot."

Taking a deep breath, she took a moment to box up the emotions and once she was satisfied, opened her eyes. She slid closer to Spencer, careful not to aggravate his wound as she checked his pupils, pulse, and breathing before getting to her feet.
"I need... I need... damnit, Haylie. Focus." Running a hand through her hair, she paced back and forth before bolting into the bathroom and grabbing towels. Lots of towels. Once she returned to his side, she began ripping them into smaller chunks.
"Listen, Spencer. I have to roll you onto your good side for a second, so just focus on letting me move you." Thank god for enhanced strength, because it allowed Haylie to shift Spencer effortlessly in order to check for any sign of an exit wound.
