Well this sucked.
Ric has only woken up fully about an hour ago, slowly coming out of sedation as his body fought the effects of anaesthesia and whatever other drugs that have been pumped through his body. His shoulder is killing him - not in the literal sense thankfully, he has had enough of that to last him a lifetime - but with a dull and steady ache that radiates up and down Ric’s arm and across his shoulder. He’s already tried to take a look at the injury, according to a nurse he was lucky that the bullet had passed through and not hit the bone or done much surface area damage but the dressings are securely in place and the head nurse looked about ready to kick Julio’s ass if he tried peeling the gauze off again.
The ward is clean and quiet, curiously there are two soldiers stood outside the ward doors. Ric is pretty sure it’s something to do with the fact that Abbot attacked him and Hope but wouldn’t it be better if his own team mates protected him rather than the men Abbot had worked with? Huh. Oh well. Ric had tried to get the soldiers attention though; but the curtain was quickly tugged around his bed by a nurse to offer Ric a little more privacy - or so she said. He thinks that they’re all hoping that he’s like a parrot and by blocking off his view he might fall back asleep.
Luckily for him he’d complained enough to be moved over to the bed nearest the window so he could at least watch what is going on in camp.
His mind keeps replaying the conversation from the plane with Martini, how they’d apologised and then agreed that it was best if Martini just stopped trying to stop every little bad thing that might well happen to Julio; "From now on, I'm just gonna let things happen to you. Otherwise, it gets way too complicated trying to keep you out of trouble all the time." Well you know what?! Forget that. Julio is, from now on, going to just let Martini do what he thinks is best and if that means he has to live a life wrapped in bubble wrap then so be it. Because to be honest he is getting a little sick and tired of being stuck in Med Bays.
He hasn’t seen Martini yet, wonders if he even knows or if his phobia of the hospital is too much for him. Ric contemplates maybe getting a message to him or Rogue or even Emma to ask them to keep an eye on Martini if he doesn’t show up. With a yawn Ric settles back on the gurney and watches the world pass by his window.
