She'd awoken a little later than usual and got quite a surprise in the morning. Cassie noticed a white envelope heavily postmarked beside her bed. She bolted up and grabbed the note, anxiousand hopeful to find out Ridley recieved her letter. Even if it had been two weeks since she sent hers out ( Read more... )

Ty was once again outside. He would have spent all his time outdoors, were it not for the simple fact that the temperature still hung around freezing most days. Sounds carried far, and his better than a normal human's hearing picked up the shuddery sounds of someone's breathing.

He knew the spot where it was coming from, the wall of compound. It seemed to be the natural spot for people to gather. It was where he had met Ororo, and had stopped Katie from taking a snowy nap. He had a kind expression on his face as he approached. With concern in his voice, he asked, "Are you all right?"

Cassie looked towards the sound of the voice with shock. "I'm...uh, fine," she lied while holding tighter to the letter in her hand as if it were about to drift away. Just finally having something to hold onto was nice, too.

Ty shook his head as he leaned against the wall, head tilted downwards towards the blonde. It didn't take someone with his caliber of hearing to be able to detect the lie in Cassie's voice. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Cassie sighed. "Not really. Just stupid homesickness is all." Stupid it was. She was determined to get mroe independant here, but that wasn't working so well. She felt more dependant on people than usual.

Betsy wasn't following her. She'd only ever seen her roommate in passing and wouldn't have minded keeping that way. She didn't even talk to the last girl. It was just when she came outside to shake that cooped up feeling, she happened to notice her and she looked upset.

"What are you doing?" She muttered to herself softly as she headed over to her roommate. "I found that on the door last night. Not sure when it was left. I wasn't even sure if it was yours but I knew it wasn't mine. Bad news?"

Looking up, Cassie said, "No. Kind of good news." If that's what you could call a half rant in letter form. "Kind of," she repeated with a small shake of her head. She wasn't sure if her brother looking for her was a good or bad thing.

The lanky Asian could only nod. She could always try and glean more information but on top of not wanting to risk conflict, she also wasn't sure she wanted the details.

"So your name is Cassie?"

"Yeah," she nodded. "And you're...Betsy?" Cassie wasn't the best at remembering people's names. Really, she couldn't remember her last roommate's name...
