Junk [OTA]

It'd been nearly a month since the mission and the gunshot wound in Kat's side still twinged. It was more the presence of the knot of scar tissue that bothered her than the fact that it hadn't healed. The doctors in the med bay had been more than skilled in making sure that she didn't get an infection and Kat had never screwed around with any ( Read more... )

Forge's concentration was terrible. At least, it was by his standards. He couldn't meditate for long before his mind started to wander despite his wishes; being in the garage over a pile of scrap was only slightly more successful at keeping his attention.

He really hoped that whatever was keeping them aged would set itself right soon--even if part of him was dreading it just as much. He'd heard through scuttlebutt that it had been something related to Martini but Forge hadn't sought the other out to ask.

Forge pulled open the kitchen door. He was always hungry as well, which was just another annoyance. His eyes glanced to the young woman stretched out in front of what might have been every sugary substance on base. One eyebrow raised. "Hello," he murmured, continuing to the fridge.

Kat glanced up as someone else entered the kitchen and she felt her eyebrows crawl up a little. Clearly not a kid, but still. Young enough. She smirked at his own raised eyebrow and she shrugged a shoulder.

The one not attached to the injured side.

"Hey. If there's anything you see on the table that you want, feel free to snag it. I think I had a case of my eyes being bigger than my stomach." she gave an apologetic smile.

Forge looked again at the pile in front of her. "I'll pass." He gave a small smile. "Thank you."

He pulled out the things necessary for a sandwich and set it all on the counter. "Were you affected by whatever is going around?" he asked as he put meat to bread. It would have been rude to assume that she had been, since he didn't know her age to start off with.

Kat smiled back and then shook her head, leaning back in her chair. "Oh no. Thankfully. I don't think I could handle being younger than I already am." It was true. At least now she had responsibilities and was able to do what she liked, in general.

"I'm guessing you have?" she hazarded. The fact that he asked the question was telling.

Kat wasn't the only one looking for food. Even if Logan didn't have his usual body to maintain, he was still, well... a growing boy. In a manner of speaking. He sincerely hoped that he didn't have to wait until he actually grew again. For now, he could be patient. If this lasted much longer, though, Martini would meet a grim fate.

Spotting Kat at a nearby table, Logan took his food and sat down opposite her. It was good to see her out and about again.

"Hey. Doing OK?"

At least she didn't seem to be affected by the age switch. What Logan was all but forgetting was that he was affected, and Kat probably didn't know that yet.

Kat looked up, both of her eyebrows raising as she tried to place the kid. Unfortunately, she couldn't, as hard as she tried. The kid's gruff demeanor was familiar, but the face just wasn't.

"Yeah, a lot better. Almost healed up." she answered, popping a cookie into her mouth. She narrowed her eyes just a little before she grinned. "To be honest? I have no idea who you are. You're...well, you're a kid and I'm betting you weren't before all this mess started."

Digging into his food, Logan gave a little grunt of approval when Kat said she was doing better. He'd figured, of course, with her being up and about, but it was good to hear it from the proverbial horse's mouth.

When she told him she didn't know who he was, he looked up at her, his chewing slowing down, eyes a little wide as if to make sure she was serious.

"Oh, right..." He really should've realised that, but Kat was someone he inexplicably felt rather comfortable around, and while he was painfully aware that he was a kid... it didn't seem to matter with her. Swallowing quickly, he put his fork down on his plate, clearing his throat. "I'm Logan."

He looked a little sheepish. Becoming 160-odd years younger was a damn strange thing to forget in front of someone...

Kat still hadn't gotten used to the kid thing, but then she'd been hiding for all intents and purposes. Her upward turned brows knit together as the kid seemed to pause and then remember himself.

Her eyes widened and she blinked for a second before she just dismissed it. She didn't need to go on and on about how much it must have sucked to be a kid again. She was pretty sure he already knew that.

"Oh! Hey." She smiled and bit into another cookie, raising her fingers to keep bits of the cookie from falling onto the table. "You hanging in there?" she asked, grabbing her coffee and taking a long drink.
