The Mechanic and The Flyboy (arrival, tag Lt. Worth. Open)

Oct 03, 2009 21:52

Des pulled into the garage, shutting off the Jeep and keeping her hands on the wheel. She'd passed through the gates no problem. A flash of ID, a big grin and she and Worth were in. No problem. She was just sitting because it was going to be a minute for her to get over the fact that the car was actually holding still.

Stifling a yawn -because damn that was one hell of a trip, Jane rubbed a hand over his face. "Yeah, totally. Just let me remember my shit." He was ready to drop, and he was pretty sure Des was too.

Whoever thought driving from the airport -the open terminal, public airport, through the city -the very busy, bustling city, to the base -which by the way, happened to be a good few hundred miles away, was insane.

And Worth would tell them so. Unless he'd get shot for it. "Man, this place is freezing."

"God, that would be heaven. But probably a bit much to ask, yeah?" The Major probably wanted them in his office a day ago, but how the hell could they manage that. Smiling his thanks to Des and taking the bag, Jane fished inside for the necessary parts of his uniform.

He hated the monkey suit sometimes, but others it was probably better to wear the damn thing properly. He preferred the flight suit. Or on base fatigues.

"I think we're in for a hell of a night on top of a killer day." Although he was in agreement that the company had been spectacular.

*The cold air was something Fred had come to enjoy ever since the team arrived in Russia. Big guys like him sweated more than others - a lot more - and it was an unpleasant thing for not only him but people within close proximity. So now Fred was sitting around with no coat on and definitely no thermal underwear. He had been given some in a packet, but he was too afraid to open and see them in his size.

At the sound of a vehicle, he looked up and saw someone arriving. Two someones: a man who looked the type to smirk, and yet another looker of a girl.*

Jane had his bag slung over his shoulder, walking to keep pace with Des and a small smile on his face -not a smirk, but not a smile. At the very least, this meant they were there. And hopefully, they could rest before they were ordered about.

Noticing Fred -because really, it's hard not to, Jane doubled his smile to a grin. "Hey there, guess we know we're in the right place."

*Fred blinked at the way the woman addressed him. So this was finally her? He paused, trying to let the discovery settle in his brain. For a half-gay, Mortimer had pretty good taste in women.*

You're the one Mortimer told me about.

*Nicky could tell there were new people close and headed their way. He was grinning sure it was cold but he'd wanted to see a place that snowed since he'd first met Jason.*
