Just wanted to say HI...im new to the group. I was let go a week before christmas. How is everyone's job search going??? Mine is still going.

I have been completely unemployed since August but before that I only had a part time job and was underemployed, so I have been job-seeking for a little over a year now.

My luck remains about the same as it's been. =/

I was searching since May 2011, while being very underemployed, and finally got a job offer right after Christmas. :) Fulltime with a subsidiary of a megacorp.

Hi. I am new to this group, too. I have been unemployed for one year. My resume isn't good. I have been looking and applying all of this time, but nothing.

I was 1 week from being at my job for 5 years and they said my job was on the contract bargaining table the first three times they negotiated, but not the last time. I just returned from vacation & bam! Been unemployed since the last week of July. I spend 3 to 4 hours daily, including Saturdays and Sundays. I tested the system of the online job searches and applied to a couple of part time positions then waited, and imagine my surprise they called! But I need full time, not 8 or 16 hours! I'll take temporary if need be, but full time! Three strikes: I'm over 50, I don't have a degree and I have over 30 years of experience. You would think the last one wouldn't be a strike, but remember the word "hire" means "to use" and it's pretty hard to use or abuse someone when you have that much of a background.
