At least it's not like this one I found a month ago:
"HOSE COCK DO I HAVE TO SUCK TO GET A JOB IN THIS FUCKING CITY?????? (PORTLAND) Reply to: Date: 2009-04-23, 6:06AM PDT
SERIOUSLY IT'S BEEN A MOTHERFUCKIN YEAR IN THIS CITY AM I TOO FAT TO WORK HERE WTF I SEE OTHER GIRLS WAY FUGLIER THAN ME GETTING ENTRY LEVEL SHIT WHOSE ASS DO I HAVE TO BURY MY GODDAMN NOSE INTO TO GET WORK AROUND HERE ITS FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE AND I'M STRESSED AND BORED FROM SENDING 6 DIFFERENT RESUMES UNDER 10 DIFFERENT EMAIL ACCOUNTS TO EVERY POSTING I SEE FUCKING HIRE ME GODDAM
* Location: PORTLAND * it's ok to contact this poster if you are a potential employer or other principal * Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job seeker. * it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests"
Employers who even mass mail a 'sorry' postcard are precious and rare.
The ones who drive me nuts are the ones who demand you fill an electronic application with their corporate office in some random city. Then the info never gets to the hiring manager. I know this because the job gets reposted sixty days later.
amen to that. i got one call back to politely say that the position was filled. one. ONE. out of about hmmm 50 or 60? i think i surprised the poor lady by saying thank you even though she wasnt calling with very good news...
As annoying as craigslist is, it's the only place I've gotten interviews from. Careerbuilder, linkden, snagajob, monster...all those places aren't even worth my time. Though, from what I've heard, in Chicago Craigslist is the best place to look.
It's been helpful for me when I actually get replies. Hell, CL got me into the line of work I wish I could find an opening in because it's fun for me. If I'd gone through the company's website instead of just emailing in a resume, I don't think I would have been looked at.
I get a lot of replies, but more than half are scams. I've gotten into the habit of googling phone numbers [when people call] or the company name...it's annoying when I find them on ripoffreport.com. Or, I apply to be a receptionist or something like that, and the email is one of those Western Union money scams. It makes me want to scream!
However, being new to Chicago [I moved here last August], CL has helped me because I would'nt know where to look, you know? I'd be fucked without it.
I've actually found that updating my resume on careerbuilder seems to generate phone calls. The most solid leads and interviews I've received have been from that, surprisingly!
oh I posted mine there but I've only gotten emails from AFLAC in the suburbs and I can't get to the suburbs and I am not a salesperson. I know this from experience. We wouldn't work out. :|
Yeah, I got an email from AFLAC when I posted my resume up there. I would apply, but seriously, I am about the last person that anyone would want working in a sales department. I don't have the charisma for it.
THIS, GOD DAMMIT. 9 FUCKING EMAILS IN LIKE TWO WEEKS (there'd be more if my stolen wireless hadn't magically disappeared) AND NOT EVEN A "SORRY NO THANKS" FSDLKGJLSKJGKLDFJDSFSD
