Crossed the finish line! It was fun, lots of wine and laughter. But I'm just as certain as I was this morning that I'm not doing it again next year, or possibly ever.
*hugs* Glad it was a fun gathering! I sure hear you about the amount of work involved in making the traditional American Thanksgiving, though; kudos to you for doing all that.
I've never attempted it, and never will. I can cook, but not easily, especially multiple complicated dishes from scratch that all need to be ready to serve at the same time. Maybe I could pull it off, but I'd be a nervous wreck through the whole process; it's just not worth it.
After my Mom died, Lee and I made a pact that we would never again have 'noblesse-oblige holidays', upholding the beautiful family traditions of Yesteryear in the face of all logic, practicality and convenience. Our family has a lot of tradition, and I'm sure we'll drag more of it out of the mothballs when I have grandchildren on whom to inflict it, but not at the cost of two weeks' worth of 'spoons' every Thanksgiving, and then again at Yule. I don't know how my mother ever did it; I do know that I just can't, so.... here's to a little less tradition, and a little more sanity! :~)
