There is exactly one problem with this fic, and that is... the chapters are too short.

Um... whoops? Next chapter is longer, I promise - I write a bit slow, so it's often a trade-off between how quick I can get the chapters out and how long they are and... I'm sure you don't care, so I'll stop rambling. Thanks for reading and the round-about compliment. :)

:( God, the torment. The torment that both of them have gone through. First the Doctor surrounded by the dead Dalek corpses, then to find Jack like that... It hurts, really. Really, really hurts. It's good, yes, but you really do know how to twist that knife.

His fingers hover, just above the skin on the other man’s cheek. They were supposed to die together, him and Jack, two soldiers making the ultimate sacrifice for the good of the universe. They didn’t, though. He’s cursed to live, his punishment, and he thinks Jack is the more lucky of the two.
